Discuss Teachers
-—Continued from Page 1
boards should make sure that
there is representative from every
school section in the area on the
board. They should try to make
the schools more attractive and
modern.
As for the governments, muni
cipal, provincial and federal, if
they could give higher grants and
more scholarships to help teachers
to become better equipped and
to encourage young people to
become teachers who cannot fin
ance the training.
In answer to question 2 as to
what rural communities and in
terested groups can do to over
come the teacher shortage the
group felt if rural organizations
would take more interest in their
school and sponsor Christmas
concerts and parties to help the
teacher and recommend better
facilities in the schools the teach
ers might be encouraged to stay.
At the close of the discussion
the forum joined in playing
euchre when the winners were
Mrs. S, Blackwell, Mrs, Henry
Adkins, Gordon Coleman and John
Soldan.

40 years ago and today is illus
trated in these two pictures of
the building which houses Cann’s

In the top picture, showing the
mill today, it will be noticed that
the chimney has been moved, an
addition constructed on the north
side, a front showroom erected,
dumping facilities placed in the
yard and advertising material
painted on the sides of the building.
