Mrs. Alvin Crago, president of the W.A., opened the meeting assisted by Mrs, Glenn Allen. It was decided to bold the next meeting on No- veFnber 1 6. This portion of the meeting was closed with the W.A. them song, Mrs.George Allen, Usborne group leader, opened the W.M.S. meeting with a short worship period. Mrs. Earl Watson, presi- dent, introduced the guest speak- er, Mrs. George Wilson, of Wood- ham, who spoke on "Traditions". Mrs. A. Dewar, of Woodham, gave a report on Cancer. Mrs. W. Kirkby and Mrs. Robert, Hazle- wood gave reports on the fall rally held in Anderson church. Articles for the fall bale were brought in. The October meeting of "The Class That Counts" was held at the home of Violet Stone. The .theme was "Thanksgiving." The worship service was conducted by Dorothy Switzer assisted by Verde Morrison. The roll call was an- swered by one's favourite meat, The speaker was Jean Alien. Marlene and Sharon Stone fav- oured with duets accompanied by Clara Watson. An interesting reading on the different flower emblems of the provinces was given by Beatrice Rogers. Remnants were given to the members to be made up and sold at a later date. Lunch was served by hostess and committee. The next meeting will be held at the home of Jean Allen. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Doupe spent the' weekend at the home of the latter's father, Mr. Grummet, in Huntsville. Kirkton United Church was closed on Sunday in favor of Anderson anniversary. Many from Kirkton attended the service and enjoyed the sermon given by Rev. R. Watt, of Mitchell, also the music rendered by the choir. Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Hamilton were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. Norris at Humber Sum- mit. On Sunday they attended the dedication service of Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church. SQUIRE Mr. and Mrs. Milne Pullen left oil Tuesday for a ten-day visit with Mr, and Mrs. Clifford Pullen Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Pickles and family, of Byron and Mrs. A. E. Cook, London, were guests on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Harry Iilahre. The W. A. of the United church are sponsoring a bazaar Friday evening in the S. S. rooms. Robert Hodgson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hodgson, returned home -from St. Joseph's Hospital on Friday. He suffered from in- juries when he fell from his fath- er's car while driving in a field. W. M. S. and W. A. Meetings Mrs. J. T. Clarke, of Centralia, and Rev. Clarke, were hosts for the October meeting on Thursday afternoon for Whalen W. M. S. and W. A. Thirteen ladies were present. Mrs. Geo. Squire con- ducted the W. M. S. and led in the devotional period. Mrs. Alex Baillie;; Mrs. Laverne Morley and Mrs. Milne Pullen assisted. Mrs. B. Duffield gave a piano Solo. Plans were made for the annual W. M. S. church service on November 13. Mrs. Roy Hodg- son gave a reading. Mrs., Clarke gae a report of the recent sect- ional meeting at Grand Bend. Mrs. Gordon Johnston, W.A. president, led the W. A. meeting. The theme was "The Bread of Life." She was assisted by Mrs. Alex Baillie and Mrs. Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wilcox, of Port Burwell, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Thomson,•, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Hodg- son and family attended Wesley anniversary Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. •Hillson Grose. Mrs. Wm. Morley, Sr., is' spend- ing a few days in London with Mr. and Mrs. Phil Porter and Mrs. Wm. Sherwell. Mrs. Olive Frederick has re, turned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. French after a month's holiday in Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Frederick and Mr. and Mrs. W. French and family were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs: Wm. Morley, Sr., in honer of the birth- day of Mrs. Frederick. Mr. and Mrs. J. Finkbeiner and family wert Sunday guests with. MissFindlay, Stratford.
