of the Huroeilale Institute held
on Wednesday of last week.
Each of the nine members of
the committee visited one section
of Exeter Fair and brought to
the meeting her commeute, her
'criticisms and suggestiOns regard-
ing the exhibits ia her particular
section. One visitor commented
"I know the members of the Fair
Beard would profit if they had
heard these reports.' Those tak-
ing part were Mrs. Roht. Mayers,
A. Ross Oke, Mrs. Wan. Ether-
dngton, Mrs. Wm. Sillery, Mrs. E.
Pym ancl Mrs. Etherington. Those
who were unable to attend the
meeting but sent their comments
were Mrs, Clarence Down, Mrs.
Frank Lostell an Mrs. Wm.
Roweliffe.
The Motto "The fundamental
rule of progress is to •do what
you eon with what you have"
was taken by Mrs.Etherington.
The roll call was answered by
helpful shopping hints. Margaret
Oke sang a solo ac..campanied by
her sister, Carolyn and Barry Jef-
frey eontributed a it accordion
solo. Mrs. „Rufus Kestle demon-
! strated the making of paper
flowers,
Mrs. H. Strang conducted the
business session in •svhich it was
decided to sponsor a program for
the Childreres Aid Society with
Mrs. J. Kirkland, Mrs: A Morgan
and Mrs. H. Love in charge. The
Institute are sponsoring •ka, girls'
homemaking•club this year "What
Shall I Wear" with Mrs. •Arthur
Rundle and Mrs, 'Bruce Tuekey
again acting as leaders. $15 was
voted to 10.N.I.13. A rug ,making
course is to be held November
21 to November 25 with Mrs. G.
Hicks, Mrs. A, Etherington and
Mrs. A. Morgan to make .arrange -

Recipes.

Mrs. Roy Morenz of Dashevood
and Mrs. Lloyd jones, Exeter
have sent us several of their rec-
ipes which were prize -winners at
our loeal fair. In a note from
Mrs. elorenz she told ua of the
many hours she spent preparing
her entries. When she finally fin -
lobed her (baking (at 2.30 A.m.
fair day) she wondered if it
were worth while getting so tir-
ed. But she forgot all abogt that
when she counted up eeven prize
tiekets. She decided it was well
wartb it and was fun besides.
Here are her clear-cut direc-
tions for making,
COCOA. COEUFFON CARE
(Mrs. Roy Moreoz)
cup 'boiling water
h cup tocoa
Stir until smooth and cool.
Step 1—Measure and sift togeth-
er in bowl -
1'2 cups sifted cake flour
1e eups sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt,
Make a well en eenter and add
e cup salad oil
7 uabeaten egg yolks (med-
ium size.)
'Cooled cocoa mixture"
1 tsp, varella
Beat together until .sinooth
Step 2—Into second, large bowl
put
1 cup (7' or 8) egg whites
tsp.. cream of tartar.
Whip 'whites until they 'form
eery stiff peaks (stiffer than for
angel food.)
Step 3—Pour egg yolk mixture
gradually Over beaten wetitee fold-
ing geatly with rubber scraper
until blended. Do not stir!.
POW _into ungreased . van im-
mediately. Bake in 10, inch tube
pan at 325° for 55 minutes. In-
crease heat to 350' for Addition-
al 10-15 minutes. If using 9x13
inch oblong pan bake at 350°
for 45-50 minutes: Serves 1.6-20e

of Hensel' provided traditional
wedding music and actompanied
the soloist, Mr. Grant MeDonaId,
of Exeter, who sang "The Wed-
ding Prayer, end "Because."
Bride in lace
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther the 'bride was lovely gowned
in white lace over satin, off the
shoulder style, and .the full skirt
was balleriva leugth. A small ea -
tin *own headdress held her em-
broidered matching Huger tip
veil and she carried a white Bible
created with an or chid with
streamers of ribbons knotted With
tiny pink eose 'buds.
Three attendants preceded the
bride to the altar, Miss Lenore
Baxter, Toronto, es maid of ho-
nor, Mrs. Ida Parsons, Toronto,
sister of the groom, as brides-
maid Miss Barbara Duncan, To-
ronto, niece of the bride, junior
bridesmaid. .Miss Baxter ehose
eluety rose taffeta with full net
Skirt, ballerina length, with mat-
ching flower headdress and nose-
gay of yellow roses and what)
mums. Mrs. 'Parsons wore blue
eaffete with net embroidered over
dress ballerina length. Barbara
nuncio.' Vies costumed in yellow
taffeta with net over dress, both
wore matching "flower hats and
nosegays to match gowns.

Hall, Sudbury.

both started baking when quite
young. Hats off te nothers who
teach their daughters the art of
cooking while they are at home
with them. It means so much to
the girls when they establish
their own homes. As the old
saying goes 'you can eateh
man with face powder bat it
takes baking powder to hold
him.'

cup cakes made from this recipe:
FEATHERY CAKES
(Mrs. Lloyd jones)
gi CUPS sifted cake flour
2i tsp. (cleeble action) baking,
powder
e tsp. salt
cup shortening Jima butter)
1 cup sugar •
2 eggs beaten light •
•cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla.
Sift flour once. Measure ehd
add baking powder and salt. Silt
3 times. Cream .shortening. .Add
sugar gradually and ceeram until
light. Add eggs and tteat welh
.Add' flour alternately with, milk,:
a small amount at a time, beat-
ing,emooth after each .seldition.
Flavor with vanilla, or ereain
tsps. grated orange rind with the
shortening. Fill greased muffin
tins .or paper eups a fall and
bake in 375° oven for 15 to 20
minutes. (Settee Will be quite
thin.)

mincemeat last week, She thought

method of ,making green tank -
toes into mincemeat. It may be
kept in a crook all ready to make
delicious •pies this winter:
GREEN TOMATO' MINCEMEAT

Put 11 quart ,basket of green
tomatoes through' ,the coarse
knife Of food grinder, Drain off
Juke, :measure it and add equal
amount of told evater. Put on
Stove and let come to a". hell.
Drain and tgain -measure. ,ittlee

5 'lbs. •brown sugar
2 n. raisins •
Tbsp. salt '
1 cap butter
, • Boil slowly for 2 ta 3 hours.
Take from stove and add 1 eup
