Auxiliary to Legion Meeting
Comrade Stanley officioated at
an Auxiliary to the Legiou meet-
ing in the Legion Roams Tues-
day. Plans were made for a bake -
fate to be held in the Stanley
Drug store September 24. The
mystery prize was won by Cora -

Mies Elaine Revington, bride -
elect, was guest of honour at two
more showers this past week.

Watson and Joan Hodgins, of
Lucan, were joint hostesses at
the former's home for a kitchen
cupboard shower when over 20 of
Elaine's Lucan a nd vicinity
friends gathered to extend best
wishes. A "bridal" contest was
won •by Mrs. Don Hodgins, of
Ilderton. A unique feature of the
evening's entertainment was
'when all ',resent dressed in ar-
ticles drawn from shopping bags
and had their pictures taken.
On Friday *evening, Mit, Stan-
ley Teal, of London, entertained
the office staff of the Webster
Air Company with a miscellan-
eous shower. Mrs. Shirley Stone
assisted with the opening of gifts

Hears Of School
The Wemen's Association of
the Liman United Church met for
their September meeting on Wed-
nesday afternoon in the Sunday
School Room. In the absence of
the President, Mrs. Roy Pitt,
Vice -President, chaired the meet-
ing. •.
The Regional Meeting o the
Middlesex Presfbytery W.A. was
announced, to be held in Ailsa
Craig United Church on Thurs-
day October 6th and a course
for W.A. workers, September 21
and 22 at Five Oaks Christian
Training Centre was also drawn
to the attention of the group.
Plans for a turkey supper were
laid over until the October meet-
ing When miscellaneous articles
for the bazaar will be the roll
call.
The meeting was turned over
to Group Convencer, Mrs. Erie
Young who lead in worshlp, as-
sisted by Mrs. Warner McRoberts
and Rev. E. M. Cook. Mrs. Jack
McLean gave 'an interesting talk
an the Alma School for Leaders,
emphasising the organizational
work particularly.

At a baptifitnaleervice in Holy
rinity Church last Sunday eve-
ning, Robert Craig Corinan was
baptized and Glen Roland Cor -
man, who had been baptized in
the hospital, was received Into
the church. Both are children of
IVIr .and Mrs. Don. Corman. The
godparents were Miss Rita Isaac,
Mr. John Hodgins and Mr. Ro-
land Hodgins. •
Lions Caub Meeting
The Lucan Lions Club held
their opening meetings for the
season in the Anglican Church
basement last Monday night. Mrs.
William Brownlee's group of the
Ladies' Guild catered for the
dinner. Plans for the winter
activities were discussed. Are
rangements were made to assist
in the car bingo on !September 7
at the arena.

At their first fall meeting Fri-
day nght, Exeter Kinsmen ap-
provd plans for an old-fasnioned
hoe-down 'lasting until the wee
small hours of the morning.
The hoe-down to be held some -
thee this fall will feature
at least two different bands for
old and new time dancing and
will last until three o'clock in
the morning. Novelty °Detests
will be staged.
Past President Les Parker, who
introduced the idea said: "Peope
are complaining the deuces today
don't last long enough --they stop
when everybody is just getting
warmed up. This one will ;be dif-
derma—it will be just like the
old-time dances that continued
long into the night."
The club also approved spon.,
soring a booth at the Fall +Fair.

Mrs. 'Collins, president, opened
the W.A. meeting, taking the
topic "The Unsearchable Riches
of Christ", Mrs. Lloyd Lynn read
the scripture.
It was decided to have the
Thanksgiving meeting in October
at the Church and to have a guest
speaker.
Mrs, Rupert Williams, W.A,
preidnt, presided for the W.A.
meeting. Mrs. Wilmer Scott read
the scriptUre. Discussion. followed
about the floor in the church. A
eommittee was named.
It was decided to have a
bazaar in November. •
To Teach In West
Miss Audrey Darling, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. William
Darling, left Tuesday morning
for Red Deer, Alta.' She will
teeth at the Canadian Nazere
College there. She plans to visit
,hr brother Ralph and family at
Fort William on Wednesday.
Miss Darling has spent five
years in Toronto teaching and re-
ceived her A,R.C.IVI. and R.M.
teachers degrees there.
Willard B. Eaton
Mr. Gordon Eaton, of Claude-
boye, has received word that his
father, Willard B. attton, of
Cypress River, Man„ was taken
to the General Hospital, Winni-
peg, where he passed away on
Wednesday, September 7, in his
seventieth year.
The funeral service was held
on Sunday hi the Is A. Ball fune-
ral chapel, St. Marys. Interment
took place in North Missouri
cemetery.
Be is surveyed by one son,
Gordon, of Clansieboye, and one
daughter, Mrs. Cecil Annette, of
West Missouri Township.

is situated a few miles east of

left on a two-week motor trip last
Sunday for Washington, D,C.
They will return by Cleveland
and Detroit.
Dr. and Mrs. T. A. Watson left
