Mrs. W. Hobbs
Active In WMS
Funeral services for Mrs. Wes-
ley Hobbs, $1, who died at the
Ringsway Nursing Home, were
conducted from the family resi-
dence at St, Ives at 2 p.m., Satur-
day, August 27 by the Rev. H.
Wilkinson. Interment was in Birr
Anglican Cemetery..
Daughter of the late Mr, and.
Mrs. William Revington, she was
the former :Sarah Ella Revington
and was born and raised three
miles north of Lucan on Conces-
sion 2, Biddulph. Her husband,
John Wesley Hobbs, whom she
married in 1900, predeceased her
in 1951. She was one of the oldest
members of the Bethseda United
Church and active in the W.M.S.
She is survived by four sons
and four daughters, John and
William, .of St. Ives, Alfred and
Everett, of Toronto, Jean, of St.
Thomas, Mrs, J. Rourke (Alma),
of Elmira, N.Y., Mrs. Stanley
Elliott (Eileen) and Mrs. Baden
Keyser (Eva), of St. Ives; also
one brother, Mr. Wilbert Reving-
ton, of Lucan, 16 grandchildren
and three great grandchildren.

Win ' Game Each
Lucan and Evelyn are now
deadlocked with a game apiece
in the Thames Valley League
finals. Owing to a downpour of
rain the opening game, which was
to have been played in Lucan last
Monday, was played in Evelyn
with Lucan winning 4-2, making
12 . consecutive wins. However,
the thirteenth game proved to be
a jinx Thursday night when
Evelyn defeated them 2-1 at
Lucan. The final game will be
played in Lucan Tuesday night.
Juniors Eliminated
In the W.O.A.A; Junior Girls'
Softball semi-finals, Dashwood
girls defeated Lucan girls in two
straight games, taking the first
9-7 in Lucan .Tuesday night and
the second in Dashwood Thurs-
day, 9-8. The games were close
and though the Lucan girls lost
out they are to be congratulated
on their splendid effort,
Hodgins Reunion
On Sunday, August 21, 75 de-
scendants of Mr. and 'Mrs. James
A. Hodgins met at Springbank
for their annual get-together.
The president this year was Mr.
Allan Elston, of Exeter.
Among those present were the
Alvin McLean family, Elginfield;
the E. L. Gibson family, Exeter,
and Mr. Alfred Hodgins, Gran-
ton. Miss Hattie Hodgins, Lucan,
who is still in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, had to miss the reunion
again.

Mrs. J. B. Armitage was guest
of honor at a surprise dinner
party held at the home of Mr,
and 'Mrs, Thomas Flynn and
sponsored by members of the
L.O.B.A. 387, last Thursday eve.

Mrs. Armitage has had to give.
up her apartment on William St.
and expects eventually to move to
London. At present she is stay-

Funeral services for Bernard
Payton,/ 88, who passed away in
St. Joseph's -Hospital on August
22, were held, on Wednesday,
August 24 at Holy Name Church,
St. Marys, at 9:30 a.m. with in-
terment in St. Marys cemetery.
He is survived by three sons
and one daughter, Clement, of
Guelph, Brother Celestine, of To-
ronto, Alphonsus,, at home, and
Mrs. James O'Shea (Evelyn), of
Lucan.

The members of Canadian Le-
gion 540 and Auxiliary held a
very successful Gala Night at the
Lucan Community Centre last
Friday night. Mr. Russell. God-
dard was the lucky winner of the
TV set and Mr. H. B. Langford
won the $50 but he generously
turned it back to the Legion.

flower girl's gown was of star-
lit gold taffeta with gold tulle
face veil and she carried a basket
of gladioli petals.

Receiving at the Lucan Com-
munity Memorial Centre, the
bride's mother wore a rose beige
dress with •beige accessories and
corsage of red roses. The groom's
mother chose a light blue dress
with pink and blue accessories
and corsage of pink roses.
For her wedding trip, the bride
chose a two-piece charcoal dress
with black and peacock accessor-
ies and corsage of pink and white
roses.
The young couple will make

Mr. Storey came to Lucan from

winter. He was married recently

Gala Night
The members of Canadian Le-
gion 540 and Auxiliary held a
very successful Gala Night at the
Lucan Community Centre last
Friday night. Mr. Russell. God-
dard was the lucky winner of the
TV set and Mr. H. B. Langford
won the $50 but he generously
turned it back to the Legion.

,Saturday, August 20 for :the wed-
ding of Pauline Annette Graham
and Jack Eizenga, The bride is
the daughter of the Rev. and
Mrs. J. A. Graham and the groom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Meine
Eizenga, all of Lucan. The Rev..
J, A. Graham officiated at his
daughter's wedding. He was as-
sisted by Rey, George Eizenga.
(Miss Charlotte Pike, of Toronto,
presided at the organ and ;Kiss
Joyce Lowrie, also of Toronto,
was soloist.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, bride wore a floor -
length gown of Chantilly lace
over tulle and satin fashioned
with long torso bodice, fingertip
sleeves and iridescent trim at
the neckline. Her fingertip veil
and face veil were held by an
iridescent headdress and she car-
ried a bouquet of red roses with
streamers knotted with rosebuds
and stephanotis,
Miss June Graham, of Toronto,
was maid of honor, and brides-
maids were Miss Doris Graham
and Miss Kathleen Graham, of
Toronto, and Miss Lorraine ,Gra-
ham and Miss Margaret Eizenga,
of Lucan. Esther Reynolds, of
Burlington, was flower girl and
Larry Wails ring bearer.
The maid of honor were a
gown of starlight gold taffeta
with matching face veil and
crescent of bronze and' gold
mums. The bridesmaids wore
gowns of starlit avocado green
taffeta and matching tulle veils
and carried colonial bouquets of
bronze and gold mums. The
flower girl's gown was of star-
lit gold taffeta with gold tulle
face veil and she carried a basket
of gladioli petals.
Allan Eizenga, of London, was
best man and the ushers were
Byrnel Graham, Herbert Burton,
Gordon Toilet son and Louis
Eizenga.
Receiving at the Lucan Com-
munity Memorial Centre, the
bride's mother wore a rose beige
dress with •beige accessories and
corsage of red roses. The groom's
mother chose a light blue dress
with pink and blue accessories
and corsage of pink roses.
For her wedding trip, the bride
chose a two-piece charcoal dress
with black and peacock accessor-
ies and corsage of pink and white
roses.
The young couple will make
their home on Beech St.; Lucan.
