RESUSCITATOR SAVES LIVES—Officials at Grand Bend are lauding purchase of a new
resuscitator which has already saved or° helped to save the lives of four swimmers at the
summer resort. Lifeguards and provincial police are in charge of the machine, which was
purchased by a community campaign late in July. Shown with the resuscitator here are, _left

Rural Clergy
Attend OAC
At the O.A.C. in Guelph, from
July ,25 to 2.9, the sixth annual
school .for rural clergy was held
with an enrolment of 90. This
included ministers and !their wiv-
es.
Attending from the Exeter area
were Rev. W.I. Moores of Thames
and E1i.mville United 'Churches
and Rey. Samuel Kerr of 'Cavan
and Cromarty Presbyterian
Churches.
Lectures were given in the
mornings from 9 to 12 by O.A.C.
professors and three courses were
offered. These were Farm Econ-
omics—which dealt mostly with
the production and marketing of
grain, •cheese, butter and milk;
Nutrition—which dealt wit6h the
feeding of livestock as well as
human beings; and Rural :Soei-
olagy, stressing .the rural church
and its work with particular 'em-
phasis on the problem of rural
depopulation.
These courses were given by
experts in their ,field and !the in-
terest was heightened by .free
discussion. Films were screened
which illustrated the lectures:
These dealt with the marketing
of "futures", soil 'conservation,
the growth of plants, ,animals and
how they are developed, and train -
by men of surgery in ,connection
with animals.
The afternoons were devoted
to the inspection 'ef crops, irri-
gation and livestock and this
took in not only the O,A:C. ,farms
and livestock but also ether farms
in the 'Guelph area. All these
tours were guided by professors
who '•enplained experiments in
connection with stock, crops and
irrigation.
The school is sponsored an-
nually by the Ontario govern-
ment and the Minister of Agri-
culture, Hon. P. S. Thomas, ad-
dressed the ministers sand their
wives at the banquet held on
Thursday evening.
Extensive literature was placed.
in the 'hands of ;the members of
the school, not only in connection
with the courses but also in con-
nection with the .O.A.C. and the
