Reunion Scene
The annual Corbett-Meadd re-
union was held at the Corbett
farm, McGillivray Township, on
Sunday, July 31, with an attend-
ance of over 80. People were pre-
sent from Toronto, Muskoka,
Cornwall, Brampton, St. .Catha-
rines, 'Guelph, Clifford, Gorrie,
Parkhill, Arkona, Mount Bridges,
Denfield, Ailsa Craig, Vancouver,
B,C„ Charles City, Virginia, and
Venezuela, South America,
Before the gathering broke up,
Mr. Fred Ferguson, of Guelph,
on behalf, of the Cousins, pre-
sented Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cor-
bett with a grill.
Couple Celebrate
Golden Wedding
QVir. and Mrs. Phineas Dickins,
now of •London, will celebrate
their fiftieth wedding annivers-
ary on Saturday, August 13 in
Lucan Arena with a family din-
ner, followed by an "at home"
reception from 9 p.m. until mid-
night.
Mr. Dickins was one of the 11
children of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Dickins, of Lucan. He
was born ,at the family residence,
Concession 4, Biddulph, five
miles• north of Lucan. Seven
members of the faniily are still
living. Mrs. Dickins, daughter of
the late M,r: and Mrs.' W. J.
Smith, was born one mile further
north. She has two brothers.
After their marriage they lived
on the farm of John Atkinson,
one and one-half miles south.
Later they lived in Ailsa Craig
and London. Mr. and Mrs. Dic-
kins have 10 children—five boys
and five girls.
Wins Semi-final Series
In the second semi-final game
in the Thames Valley League on
Monday evening, which had to be
played in Granton owing to Lu -
can's wet ,,,•grounds,.• Lucan de-
feated Granton 12-1, winning the
series in two straight gashes.

Girls Tumble
For Awards
Friday night, in the Stanley
Opera House, Miss Joan McLean
closed her tumbling activities
with an achievement night pro-
gram consisting of marches,, in-
dividual saints, sister acts, dives
and pyramids, before an audience
of parents and friends.
Out of an enrolled class of 38,
there were 21 girls wbo received
bars for over 75 percent attend-
ance, obedience to safety rules
and commands and signs of im-
provement. T.V. pictures appear-
ed on Channel 10, London, Sat-
urday evening. Miss McLean was
presented with a necklace and
ear rings, Mae Cobleigh read the
address and Karen McAllister
made the presentation.

Injured In Accident
On Sunday evening in London,
a car driven by William Cyre, 21,
of R.IR.. 3 Lucan, collided with a
1 -ton truck driven by Howard
Peckham, 33, of London, in mid -
intersection of Horton and Rid -
out Streets. Taken to Victoria
Hospital were Ronald Bloom-
field and Mrs. Betty Peckham, of

Shop Disappears
Another of Lucan's landmarks
will in a few days be naught but
a memory.
To enlarge his used car lot,
George Thomson has purchased
the Jackson blacksmith shop and
the Butlers are busy this week
removing -the building,
James Jackson bought the shop
43 years ago from Thomas Hod-
gins, Since Mr, Jackson's death
in 1947 the building has been
idle except, for the short time
the hydro had it rented for stor-
age, Between 80 and 100 years
ago Jack Neviiles had a shall
blacksmith. shop on the same
location.
Drive -In Restaurant Planned
Lucan is soon to have an up-
to-date drive-in restaurant. Mrs.
R. English, of London, has pur-
chased the Kate Smith building
vacated some months ago by L.
Damm.
The Lewis brothers, Lucan's
contractors, are renovating and
modernizing the building. When
finished, there will be a five-
room self -.contained apartment
upstairs to be. rented furnished
or unfurnished, with entrance off
Main Street.
Downstairs, there will be ladies'
and men's washrooms, a large
circular bar where snacks or
full course meals will be .served.
At the side of the building, now
occupied as a used czar lot, will
be a drive-in snack bar.
