Dies In Islington
There passed away suddenly at
the residence of her grand-.

County, They spent Christinas
with Mrs, Essery's sister iu St.
Marys; then with a •horse and
top Buggy, the letter the first
of its kind in the township, they
made their journey to the groan's
Tarin that was to be their home
for 35 years: and whieh a sen,
William Essery, now operates.
They moved to Centralia where
they celebrated their golden wed-
ding December 1 in 1931 and
their diamond wedding annivers-
ary in 1941.
Accomplished Musician
Mrs. Essery was an acconielish-
ed musician being organist in her
home town before liar marriage
and for the church at Eden for
Mau years. She was also a clever
ileedlewomau and all the girls
of her community received gifts
of her tatting or other needle-
work as awedding gift up to the
time of Jier death.
She celebrated her ninetye
eighth birthday at the home of
her granddauglitsr, Mrs. Fred
Ilan, Toronto, on July 23 and
carried on a conversation by long
distance phone with her daugh-
ter, Mrs, Loretta slicks.
Mr. Essery passed away in July,
1946, at the age of 93. Mrs, Es-
sery is survived by one daughter,
Lorretta (Mrs, Byron Hicks),. of
Stephen Township; one son, Wil-
liam H., on the homestead, Use
Dorms Township; seven grand-
children and eight great grand -
Funeral services were conduct-
ed in the Murdy funeral home,
Lucan, by Rev, G. Weir, Alton.
Interment was made in Exeter
cemetery, Pallbearers were Ro-
bert Avery,. Ewart Pym, Clayton
Harris, Cecil Skinner, Maurice
Coates and M. C. Murdy.

Hensall Kinsmen
--Continued from Page 1
Bean Festival on Labor Day. The
Festival will feature again a de-
licious meal of locally -grown
•beans but this year the club has
added considerable entertainment
to the day, In addition to a mon-
ster parade in which at least five
bands will perform, the club has
arranged for a tug of war tourna-
ment among district strongmen,
a Western Ontario horseshoe
pitching contest, midway, movies,
a dance and floor show.

Rector Returns
At St. James Church on Sun-
day, July 31, the service was
conducted by Mr. Kenneth Toten,
a lay reader of London, The ser-
vice on July 24 was conducted by
Mr: Robert :Spoon, a student at
Huron College. The rector, the
Rev. 3, F. Wagland, has been on
holidays but will take the service
on August 7. There will be no
classes in the Sunday School
during August.
Visit England
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whitmore,
Sr„ left London on Monday, July
26 for d trip to England. They
sailed on the "Scythia" from
Quebec on July 27, They expect
to stay two months.
Mr. Whitmore came to Canada
from England in 1910. For seve-
ral years he worked on a farm,
later as a section man on. the
London, Huron and Bruce Rail-
way, He is now retired. Mrs.
Whitmore came to Canada in
1912. For many years they have
looked forward to a trip to
England.
District Accidents
Mr. Ivan Riddell, of R.R. 1
Clandeboye, who received injury
when he was struck by a grain
elevator, was cut . on the head
also, by his glasses, on the nose.
One rib was broken. He was re-
moved to South Huron Hospital
by the Murdy ambulance of Lu -
can. Dr. Fletcher, of Exeter, at
tended. Mr. Riddell was assisting
his son, Jinn, on the .adjoining
farm to finish the last load of
spring grain .when the accident
occurred.

Mr. Roy Mariann, who was com-
bining oats, had a rib broken
when he slipped, falling onto the -
tool box. He had only a couple
of acres to finish harvesting. .A.
neighbour finished it for him
later.
Sharon Bieber, aged six, one of
the twin daughters of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Bieber, had the mis-
fortune to receive a gash in her
eyelid, received in it fall. Dr.
Paterson, of Lucan, closed the
gash with two stitches.
Mr. Mac McNaughton has re-
covered from an injury to his
foot, received while harvesting
when a grain elevator fell on it.

Picnic At River Park

the Huron Waves Mary Hastings

ed by the president, Mrs, Harold
Thiel, of Zurich. The secretary,
Mrs. Bryce Meek, :of Zurich, read

ISt. Andrew's United Church,
Kippen, lovely with a floral back-
ground pf white and salmon
gladioli, was the setting for a
charming wedding on Saturday,
July 23, when Wilma Florence,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam T, Kyle, of Kippen, became
the Ibirde of Harold Lloyd, son
of Mr. and Mrs, William Cald-
well, of Kifeen.
Rev. Norman McLeod offlclat-
ed, Traditional wedding music
was played by Miss Jean Ivison,
church organist, who accompan-
ied the soloist, Mr. George Wood-
cock, of Dearborn, Mich„' cousin
of the bride.
Given in marriage by her .fa-
ther, the bride was lovely in a
waltz -length strapless gown of
embroidered swiss tulle over ny-
lon net. The fitted lace. jacket
featured a Peter Pan collar trim-
med with seed pearls and (sequins
and fashioned with lily point
sleeves. A Juliet cap of lily -of -
the -valley held her fingertip veil
of embroidered illusion net. She.
carried a white Bible with a cas-
cade of white ribbon knotted with
rose buds and baby mums.
Miss Eleanor Verner, Hensall,
as maid of honer, was gowned in
turquoise net over taffeta, waltz -
length, with embroidered net
polonnaise and hug -me -tight jac-
ket and matching bandeau head-
dress of net trimmed with se-
quins and rhinestones,
Miss Bonnie Kyle, of Kippen,
sister of the bride, as, brides-
maid, was costumed in a gown
identical to the maid of honor
in shrimp shade. Both carried
bouquets of yellow mums.
Robert Caldwell, of Kippen,
was his brother's groomsman.
Tom Kyle, of Kippen, brother of
the bride, and Harry Tozer, 08
London, ushered.
The wedding dinner, attended
by 60 guests was held in the
church parlours, attractive in
white and. pink streamers and
pink and white gladioli. For re-
ceiving, the bride's mother wore
powder blue lace over taffeta
with accessories in white. The
groom's mother assisted wearing
rose lace over taffeta with beige
accessories. They wore corsages
Of pink and white roses respect-
ively.
Assisting at the wedding din-
ner were Mrs. Harry Smith, of
Hensall; Mrs. Grant 'Smith, of
Hensall, Mrs. William Cleary, To-
ronto, and Miss Margaret Camp-
bell, London.
For their wedding trip to the
U.S.A. the bride donned a white
linen afternoon dress, over which
was worn a blue linen. duster
with accessories in white and a
corsage of gardenias.
The young :couple will reside in
Hensall where the bride is on the
staff of the Bell Telephone.
