The guest speaker, Mrs. Mc-
Farlane, president Of. Holy Trin-
ity W.A., Lucau, gave an interest-
ing aecount of her recent bus trip
with members of Trinity Church,
Ailsa Craig, and .St. Mary's
Church, Brinsley, to the Mohawk
Reserve near Bantford. There
are five, Anglican churches there.
One, Her Majesty's Chapel, which
is considered the first Protestant
Church in Upper Canada, was
,built in 1.785, Mr. Zimmerman is
in .charge there. In it is gold car-

Coronation; also a memorial .to
Om Iate Pauline Johnston, whose
body was cremated. They visited
the Mohawk Institute: --a home
for ehildren who coxae mostly
from broken homes.

Mrs, Karl O'Neil. A report was
given on the recently -redecorated
room. The president closed the
meeting with prayer.

Mrs. Elizabeth (Bessie) Mc-
Naughton, 76, passed away at
Victoria Hospital, London. Her
husband, John, passed away last
January, She resided at 45 Lang-
arth St., London,
Before moving to the city, they
kept, the general store at Moores-
ville and attended Christ Church,

Um late Joseph Ritchie was held

distance, Mr. Carl Ritchie, of

The picnic meeting of Clande-
boye Women's Institute ''was held
on the lawn at the home of the
president, Mrs, Ernest Lewis.
During a brief business session,
13 members responded to the
roil call, naming "the most
beautiful spot in Ontario I have
visited". Raising money for the
Scholarship Funds was discussed
and Group 5 was appointed to
conduct a project.
The ladies then adjourned to
the lawn where the prizes went
to the following: pre-school child-

July 24 will be taken by Mr.
-Kenneth Toten, of London. On
July 31, Mr. Robert Scoon, of
Huron College, will conduct the
service.
Wins Centennial Car
Miss Patricia A. Carter, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Carter„
won the Centennial car at ' a
Queen's Park draw on Friday
night. Miss Carter is 20 years old
and graduated from the London
Teachers •College` this year. She
will •start her teaching career at
Churchill School; London, this
September. The car was donated
by John Labatt Ltd., of London.

Accident Mars
Teen Hay Ride
On Friday evening, 29 mciP-
ibers of Lucan Teen -Town had
a hilarious hay ride aver the
countryside 1» two tractor -drawn
wagons in charge of Jim Avery
and Eric Hodgins. Th(a ride was
followed by refreshments at the
Community Centre.
The pleasure of the evening
was marred by one accident when
Bob Young fell off the back of
one wagon. He broke several.
bones in his left wrist which'
necessitated his remaining in St.
Joseph's Hospital until Monday.
Revington Picnic
About 75 members of the Rev-
ington family iron? Glencoe,. Lon,
don, Granton, Thorndale, St.
Marys and Lucan attended the
annual Revington picnic held at•
Springbank last Sunday after.
noon.
Mr. Emerson Stanley was presi-
dent this year and Mrs, Sheridan
Revington, secretary - treasurer,

Hydro Transformer Course
A six-week hydro transformer
course for the Lucan and Exeter
area is being held Mondays and
Wednesdays in Lucan's new
Scout Hall. Mr. Oscar Crouch, of
Strathroy, is instructor.

The Scouts and Cubs closed
the season's activities with a
supper outing on the river flats.

Pigeon Races
The Forest City Pigeon Club
since June has held four pigeon
races from Grand Mere and St.
Agathe, Que., Perth and Peter
boro, Ont. Jack Hardy was the
winner of the St, Agathe race
with L. Revington third. In the
Perth race, N. Hardy came sixth.

Owing to the extreme heat and
long drought, the Lucan council
has found it necessary to put a
restriction on the use of hoses,
limiting the use to the hours of
7 to 9 a.m. and 6:30 to 0 p.m.

couple of weeks with Mrs. Moore's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. U. P.

Injured In Accident
Mt. Jack Prouse, of London,
met With an accident while driv-
ing west, about three-quarters of
a mile from Clandeboye, Thurs-
day evening. A tire blew out and
the Car went into the field of
Mr. Cecil Carter. Preuse Was
taken to St, Joseph's Hospital by
llaskett's ambulance of Lucan:

Mrs. 1-1. Langford
Dies On Sunday
Mrs. Hedley Langford passed
away at the home of her Baugh
ter, Mrs. Melvin Dann, Con, 15,
London, on Sunday, in her eighty-
fourth year.
Daughter of the late George
and Mary Braithwaite, she was
born in London Township and
lived all her life there and in
Revere. She was a member -of
Wesley United Church. Her •hus-
band predeceased. her 30 years
ago.
She is survived by three daugh-
ters and two sons, Mrs, Melvin
Dann (Verna) , of Denfield; Mrs.
John Dunnell (Marie), of St.
Marys; Mrs. Charles Gowan
(Olive), of Granton; Allan and
Clayton Langford, of Granton;
also three brothers, Warner
Braithwaite, Saskatoon; Ernest,
of London, Webster, of Ottawa,
and five grandsons and three
grandchildren.
She lay at rest at the 0. Has-
kett and Son fnueral home until
Tuesday when Rev, A. E. Lloyd
conducted funeral services. Inter-
ment was in Silvan Cemetery.

nett, Fred Braithwaite, Douglas
Pattison, Melvin Dann, John Dun-
nell and Charles Gowan.

After the sports there was a
mad race to the two swimming
pools, which the children enjoy-
ed. The 'ball game after supper
was cut short by a sudden shower
of rain which hit London alone.
On arriving home, Lucan was as
dry as it has been for weeks.
