Mr. and Mrs. Elston this past
week.
Master Kenneth (Payne of Lon-
don is visiting his cousins, Jim-
mie and Jackie Rundle this. week.

Dennis of London is visiting with

The pupils and .mothers held a
picnic on the school . grounds on
June 28 in the afternoon. Sports
were enjoyed after which Miss
Helen Thompson, their teacher,
who is-- leaving, was presented
with a tray, cream and sugar set
and a cup and saucer. Miss El-
eanor Bell of Stratford will suc-
ceed Miss Thompson in Septem-
ber.

Lets Contract
For Hay Shed
Contract for the construction
of a township shed was let to
Clifford •Salmon, Dashwood, for
$2,400 by Hay council at its
meeting last week.
The contract is for labour only.
The township will supply the
materials, The 45x55 shed to
house road machinery will he
built on lot N,E, part 21, con-
cession 10, east of Zurich on the
Blind Line.
Discussion over the tenders
and interviewers took all of the
regular council meeting and other
business had to be adjourned to
a second night,
Construction of a new con-
crete bridge at Con, 14, lot 10,
was authorized to replace the
Pfile bridge whose foundation is
in poor condition.
Hay approved the South Huron
District High Schbol proposal to
build an $85,000 addition to pro-
vide for increased enrolment.
Court Of Revision Aug. 9
Council provisionally adopted
the engineer's report as incor-
porated In the Haugh Drain by-
law of the Township of Stephen.
Court of revision will be held on
Tuesday, August 9.
Payment was authorized of
$2,275 to L. H. Turnbull for the
Aldworth drain, including extra
excavation to take the 'ditch off
the road; and $75 to C. P. Cor-
bett, 0.L.S., for sgperintendence
of construction.
Upon the request of Herbert
Beierling and William Forrester
to be released from U.S.S. 9 Stan-
ley and Hay and become rate-
payers of the Hay Township
School Area, council decided to
meet with the trustees at the
next session.
To Redecorate
Schools In Hay
Four schools in the Hay,Town-
ship School Area will he improv-
ed during •the summer holidays,
Secretary -treasurer W. H. Brok-
enshire said Wednesday.
Interior painting and redecor-
ating has been approved for No.
2, near Exeter; No. 12 (Blake
Corners) ; and No. 4 on the Bron-
son Line.
A new Sloor will be installed
on No. 15 (Smokey Hollow).

The funeral of the late James
Hoggarth took place from his
home on Friday and was largely
attended by friends and relatives.
