The Mission Band held its June
meeting last Tuesday at the
school. Margaret Brock and Shir-
ley Hern had charge of the pro-
gram. Planswere made for a
picnic and for the July meeting
when they .meet with the W.M.S.
Y.P.U. Play Ball
Young Peoples' met at the
school Monday evening, A ball
game was played .before the meet-
ing. The worship service was
conducted by Edward Horn and
Tom Hern. Helen Herdman pre-
sided for the business. Plans
were made to have a weiner
roast.

Shallow Dive
Breaks Neck
A running dive from a speed
boat ramp 'into. Shallow water at
Grand Bend severely fractured
the neck of a London youth Sun-
day.
The youth, J. Ralph Leonard,
now employed in Toronto, is in.
Victoria Hospital, ,London, where
his condition is reported as not
critical. •
The youth took the head -first
dive off the ramp en the beach
just south of Lakeview Casino.
A companion, Marshall Clinger,
also of London, pulled the flound-
ering victim onto the beach,
Emergency treatment was giv-
en by Dr. V. IGulens, Dashwood,
and Dr. S. V. Auren, of Ann
Arbor, Mich. The victim was„rush-
ed to hospital in the T. Harry
Hoffman ambulance, Dashwood,
escorted by ()PP Constables Cecil
Gibbons, Exeter and Dick Daw-
son, Parkhill..

To Salvation Army
The Salvation Army appeal in
this district netted $944.70,
Treasurer Jack Doerr announced
this week. This is slightly below
the amount contributed last year.
The campaign wasconducted
by Army officers under the dir-
ection of Lt. -W, Ernst, of Strat-
ford. In previous years, local vol-
unteers conducted the canvass.
