Picnic Held Here
The ninth annual Miller -Mc-
Dougall picnic was held at Ex-
eter on Saturday. The attendance
was not as large as usual owing'
to inclement weather. Mr, W. Mc-
Cartney was elected president for
1956 with vice-president,, Mr. A.
Park; secretary -treasurer, Mrs.
W. Lamport; sports committee,
Mr. and Mrs. W. Minis, and lunch
committee, Mr. and Mrs, A. Park.
Mrs. M. Thonison was the old-
est person in attendance; Calvin
Annis was the youngest, and Mr.
and Mrs. Guy Clemens, of Moose
Jaw, came the farthest distance.

for the June meeting at Mrs, Ray
Parkinson's on Thursday even-

charge of the W.M.S. The theme
was "Anniversary in Angola."

on Monday. It is about fifty years
ago that Mr, Ford left Exeter.

and C:G.I,T. groups of :South ;Sec-
tion Of Huron Presbyterial in the
James St. United church this
evening (Thursday).
Plan To Organize
Observer Corps
Two representatives each from
the Legion Auxiliary, the Sorori-
ty, the Rebekahs and the Kin-
ettes along with twelve members
of the Legion will .term a Ground
Observance Corps which is being
sponsored' by the Legion and Aux-
iliary jointly. !This was discussed
at the Legion Auxiliary meeting
held recently,
At the meeting the !Auxiliary
reported that they had sponsored
a mother and daughter Brownie
banquet on June 1 and had held
Navy League Tag Day on May 21.
Plans were made to have the
June •meeting in the form of a
weiner roast to be held at Port
Blake on Monday, June 27, when
the husbands will be guests.

Percy Workman
Stanley Farmer
Mr. Percy Magee Workman,
well known and highly esteemed
resident of Stanley Township died
suddenly 'Sunday morning ar his
home with a heart "'seizure. Mr.
Workman who was in his 64th
year was up and around as ,usual
when be was ,stricken and died
before the doctor arrived. Born
in :; Tuckersmith he had spent
most of hie life in Stanley Town-
ship. Ho was a member of Varna
United Church,
Surviving are his widow, the
former Thelma Dawson; one
daughter Phyllis, and one son
Leroy, both at home; two broth-
ers Rev. H. V. Workman, Tillson-
burg; William Workman, Tuck-
ersmith; one sister, Mrs. Howard
Bolger, London.
The body rested at his late
residence Lot 7, Concession 7,
Stanley Township, where private
funeral services were held Wed-
nesday conducted by Rev. T. J.
Pitt.
