The winners, who claim the La- .batt trophy, scored a four -game total of 4,759 to edge the Jets by 62 points. The Spares bowled 4,551 and Grand Bend 4,494. Tradesmen ended on top of the "A" group in the first playoffs, Grand Bend placed second, Jets third and Spares, the league win- ners, fourth. 'A' Champs, On Friday Spare Parts Tops Spare Tarts captured the top spot in the "13" section with Whizz Bangs second, Hensall Le- gion third and Ringers fourth. The "B" clubs played -off for the Pittsburg Paint trophy Wednes- day night. On Friday night, the Trades men will play the winners of ,"B" group for the Tip Top trophy do- nate(' by Norm Walper this year. Mem- hers should contact the secretary or Rene Francois at the Bowling Lanes. - Call All Players To Ball Workouts A .call for all ball players to try out for the Exeter Legion Mo- hawks Intermediate "'C" team was issued this week by Manager Jim Fairbairn, who says all po sitions are open. Practices were resumed over the weekend and Tuesday night. The local club will feature home-brew talent this year with the exception of Steve Mitro and Bob Me'harg, members of last year's team, from London. Manager Fairbairn, who is also president of the Huron -Perth Baseball League, said Tuesday Clinton Radio would not be enter- ing a team this season. Hockey Officials, Legion To Entertain Youngsters Minor hockey players of Ex- eter and district will receive a post -season treat fro?n Exeter Le- gion this Saturday afternoon. A representative from tite To- ronto Maple Leafs organization will be guest speaker at the fete. Hockey films will be provided by Imperial Oil Ltd. through the Rec Director Smith Named To Council Doug Smith, Exeter Recreation Director, was elected to the Ad- ministrative Council of the On- tario Recreation Association at its convention in Sudbury over the weekend. Mr. Smith will represent the Lake Huron zone on the council, which helps to direct the policy of. the Association and plans the annual conferences. Attending the convention with Mr. Smith was Lloyd Cushman, a member of the Exeter Recrea- tion Council. Booster Club Plans Election New officers will be elected for the Exeter Booster. Hockey Club at a business meeting in the town hall Monday night, President W. G. Cochrane announced this week. The meeting will wind up this season's operations of the Mo- hawks and make plans for next year. local dealer, Hunter-Duvar and Sons Ltd. Presentation of crests and tro- phies to this year's winners in the house league and W.O,A.A. competition will be made. The branch will provide a "bun -Meed" following the entertainment. The event, which will be held in the Legion Hall, starts at 2 p.m. and all boys who participat- ed in minor hockey are.invited. He also competes is track and field. Bill's selection as this year's leader .continues the dominance of Zurich athletes in high school sports. In recent years the Zurich. youths who have been chosen for the title have included Don O'Brien, Jahn Haberer and Bill O'Brien. A grade 13 student, he is the 19 -year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Yungblut. He is a member of the school glee club and sings in the boys' double quartet. Bill believes community life couldb• eimproved by providing more recreational facilities. He thinks communities should take an interest in school athletics be- cause that is where true amateur sport excels.
