W.A, and W.M.S. will be held
on Wednesday afternoon, May 4
in the church basement with Mrs.
Stan Coward and Miss`Pearl Dun-
can as hostesses. The topic will
be •given by Rev. W. J. Moores.
Mrs. Gordon Stone will be in
charge of the program.
On Sunday, May 1, the Sacra-
ment of the Lord's Supper will
pe observed at the morning
church service. Those wishing to
join the chutch will ineet with
the session .on Sunday morning
before the service.
On Sunday, May 8, the rite of
baptism will be observed at a
special Nether's Day service.
Rural Life Sunday will be ob-
served in Thames Road church
at 11 a.m. (DST) May 15 when
the congregations of Elianville and
Thames Road will hear the Hon.
James G. Gardiner of Ottawa who
.will be the guest speaker.
The Y.P.U. met at the home of
Jim Etherington on Sunday eve-
ning.
Two feature-length films were
made in Canada during 1953—
one in Quebec, one in Ontario.

Track And Field Club
A group of 10 track and field
enthusiasts from Exeter and drip,
trict attended a Meeting Tits -
day night along with Vic CASSIS,
Glen Miele and the repreatlon
director. Mr. *icicle had A list of
12 other boys. Who were interest-
ed but contd not attend the meet..
A discussion took place on
sponsorship, facilities, equipMent,
coaching, training times, etc, and
from this discussion a report will
be compiled and taken to the
next zone meeting at Walkerton.

the possibility of the club par-

An objective for our club could
perhaps be a local meet this sum-
mer.

Mrs. Ronald Squire gave her
home for the April meeting of the
IW.M.S. and W.A. _on Thursday
evening. Mrs. ...William French,
second vice-president, was in
charge of the W.M S. meeting.
The theme was "Chrlit, The Hope
of the World". Mrs. George
Squire and Mrs. 'William Morley,
Sr., assisted in the devotional
period:
It was voted to organize a
Baby, Band with Mrs. Pinkbeiner
as leader. A quilting will be held
in the near future. Mrs. Pullen
sang and Mrs. Cecil Squire gave
a ehapter in the study book,
"Missionaries in the Indian
Church".
Mrs William Morley, Sr., was
the leader for the W.A. The
theme was "The Resurrection and
the Life". Mrs. Morley gave the
Lesson Thoughts. Mrs. Johnson
read the scripture and Mrs. Pul-
len led in prayer. Miss Elva Mor-
ley gave a reading, "Be Big
Enough.
Plans were made for two tra-
velling aprons and for a plant
sale for the May Meeting. Pro-
ceeds from supper in the church
in March amounted to 826.00.
Mrs. Grafton Squire • gave a
reading.

posed of L. Snell, F. Button and
D. Smith will present a slate of
names of proposed directors for
next year at the annual meeting
September 16, Nominations will
also be taken froam the floor. The
nine directors elected will choose
their executive. Several recom-
mendations wIll be forwarded to
the executive.
Senior Citizens
From all Indications our local
senior citizens group is still grow-
ing in stature and. number , At-
tendance at the last meeting was
156 and no doubt should hit the
160 mark for the next social on
Tuesday, May 3, at the Canadian
Legion hall. Mr. and Mrs, M.
Quance were chosen as program
convenors and a 'very entertain-
ing evening is assured. The W.A.
or Main Street United Church
will be assisting,
Minor Bowling
Last call for all children who
inay be interested in minor howl-
ing—teams will be chosen in the
girls and boys divisiOng to howl
each Saturday morning through
May and June. Teams will be
cbrapeting for the Francois 'tro-
phies. All boys and girls are ask-
ed to be present Saturday morn-
ing at 9:30 at the Exeter Bowl-
ing Lanes.
Drama Club • •
The Exeter club will be playing
host to area drama enthusiasts
around the middle of May when
the Community 'Programs Branch
of the Department :of Education
sets up a course on drama for all
communities in the southern ex-
tremity of the zone.
