There has .been some coneern
that Dashwood 'Tigers, O.1B,A. In-
termediate "D" finalists last year,
would net reprganize• again but
officials are confident the famous
ball village will have another
entry. The 'Tigers won the pro-
vincial "D" title in 1953. 'S
Zurich Lumber Kings, who
fielded a strong, young club last
year, will be back again to chal-
lenge Dashwood for "D" honors.
President Fairbairn expects
"C" entries from Clinton RCAF,
Clinton town and Mitchell besides
the local club.
It has been indicated Lucan
Irish, Centralia Flyers and Gode-
rich would be returning to the
fold but this apepars doubtful,
the president said.
League officials will meet on
May 8 to form the league and
draw up a schedule,
Mohawks' scheduled practice
over the weekend was cancelled
by rain. The club plans another
session this coming weekend.

Crop Report

Approximately 50 per cent of
the spring grains are now seeded,
much of the acreage still to be
seeded has.' been worked over
once or twice. Heavy rains on
Wednesday again delayed seed-
ing operations, but farmers were
back -on the land again at the
close of the week. New seedings,
old meadows and pastures have
made exceptional growth and fall
wheat is looking better each day.
A television licence for Radio
Station ,CKNX has been approved
by the C.E.C. The Wingham sta-
tion will operate on Channel No
8 and It will have a directional
antenna at a height of '793 feet.
Of particular interest is the fact
that an extensive farm .program
is being planned.

Race Still Wide Open
For Bowling Piayoffs
With less than a week .of the
first elimination playoffs remain-
ing, the race for positions in the
two sections Of .the men's howl-
ing league is still wide open.
Tradesmen and Whizz Hangs
led "A" and "B" ,groups respec-
tively at the end of last week
but games this week changed the
picture. Before the round is over,
many upsets pati occur.
Best triple of the week was
Jack Fuller's 729; Whizz Bangs'
3600 was the top team score,
Winners of the individual
awards for the season were an-
nounced this week. Merle Mode's
428 is the best single and Al
Hoskins wins the high 'triple with
860,
For the third year In a row,
Rene Francois of the Spares post-
ed the highest average. His 226
score this year is 10 •points be-
low the record he set last year,
Jack Fuller, also a member of the
Spares, captured second spot with
214.

At the Sunday morning service
in Trivitt Memorial Church the
new, surplices and cassocks, worn
Eby the choir were dedicated and
the choir memlbersrededicated
by the lbev. N. D. Knox. The new
robes were made by members o1,
the Guild. Special music by the,
choir was a ,feature of the ser-
vice.
The young people of Trivitt
and St. Paul's Church, Hensall,
have completed their project of
re -decorating the basement of the
Hensall church.
