Dr. and Mrs. Harry Joynt spent
a few days with Mrs. Alice Joynt
prior to leaving for a thur of
England and the Scandinavian
countries. Dr. Joynt will visit sur-
gical clinics in England, Edin-
burgh and Stockholm. They will
visit friends in Amsterdam and
Copenhagen. The trip will be
made by plane. Dr. Joynt also.
hopes to visit Hensall, England,
before returning.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parlmer, of
Windsor, visited with Mrs. J.
Fisher and Mrs. T. Parlmer for
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle,
Charles, Bob and Ann were in
Ridgetown on Sunday visiting the
former's mother, Mrs. George T.
Mickle, who is 91 years of age.
Mr. and Mrs. William pepper
have arrived home after spending
the Easter holidays with Mr. and
Mrs. Nelson Pepper at Hamilton.

Centralia Chapel
Scene Of Nuptials
Easter lilies formed an attract-
ive setting for the marriage in
the Protestant Chapel, R.C,A.F.
Station Centralia, on Saturday,
April 9, of .Corinne Joan Mar-
guerite Smale, :daughter of Mr,
and Mrs. William Smale, Hensall,
to LAC Charles Kenneth Harri-
son, Jr., of Portage la Prairie,
Man. P11, Mould performed the
ceremony. Wedding music was
provided by P10 G. Brown, who
accompanied the soloist, Grant
McDonald, of Exeter,
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride was lovely in a
gown .of Chantilly lace and nylon
tulle over satin, styled with a
softly -moulded bodice of nylon
tulle, long lily point sleeves and
a full skirt of satin topped with
Several layers of net. Her finger-
tip
ingertip veil fell from a beaded pearl
crown and she carried a bouquet
of red roses.
Mrs. Frank Cousins, of Londoi,
sister of the bride, as matron of
honor, wore a yellow ballerina
gown of net over taffeta with a
heart -shaped headdress, Her bou-
quet of mauve baby mums,
Miss Louise Blommaert, Ex-
eter, as bridesmaid, chose a pale
green ballerina gown of net over
taffeta with a bandeau of green
forget-me-nots. She carried a
bouquet of mauve baby mums.
Miss Sharon Smale, Hensall,
sister of the bride, was flower
girl, wearing mauve nylon net
over taffeta. She carried yellow
mums.
Frank Cousins, of London, was
groomsman. Ronald Stephan and
Mervyn Stephan, London, were
ushers.
A reception was held at the
Legion Hall, Hensall, where Mrs.
Smale received the guests wear-
ing a figured - silk dress with'
white accessories and corsage of
white carnations.
Mr. and •Mrs. Harrison left for
a wedding trip to Toronto and
points north, the bride travelling
in a navy blue figured dress with
yellow bolero and navy accessor-
ies. They will reside in Portage
la Prairie, Man.

Institute meeting held in the
Legion rooni'se April 13. (Mrs.
Geiger presided for the opening
exercises. Mr. Rader, :florist •of
Exeter, 'accompanied by his dau-
ghter„ gave an interesting talk
on :the (planting and .care of flow-
ers and shrubs. The plants used
to demonstrate were auctioned
by Mrs. George !Hess, the proceeds
being given to the Institute.

Circle was held Monday evening
with guests present from the
Evening Auxiliary of the United
Church, the ladies of the Angli-
can Church and. Carmel Church
Senior W.M.S.
President Mrs. Mary Hilde-
brandt welcomed the guests, The
worship service, prepared and
conducted by Mrs. Pearl Bayn-
ham, took the form of a pageant
with Mrs. Sadie Hoy, Mrs, G1adYs
Kerslake, Miss Shirley Bell and
Mrs. E. Bell taking part. A beau-
tiful painted cross, done by Mrs.
Sadie Simpson, formed the -back-
ground for this service. Duets
were sung by Miss Shirley Bell
and Mrs. Gladys Kerslake and
Mrs, Henrietta Brown and Carol,
followed by a solo by Mrs. Elva
Puss, accompanied by Mrs. Helen
Goddard, and a piano solo by
Mrs. Blanche Dougall,
Guest speaker for the evening
was Rev. D. MadDonald, who re-
cently came to minister to this
church.
