Born In Usborne
Funeral services were conduct-
ed in the Mt, Pleasant Chapel in
Vancouver, B,C., on Wednesday,
March 23, by the pastor of Wil-
son Heights United Church for
the late Mrs. R. J. Green, the
former Mabel Claire Sawyer,
eldest daughter of the late Wil-
liam Sawyer and Eliza Clarke,
Mrs. Green was born at Win-
chelsea where she lived for a
number of years.
She is survived by her •hus-
band, R. T. •Green, and two
daughters, Mrs. R. R. Jack and
Mrs. A. Buckle, all of Vancouver;
two brothers, V. 0. Sawyer, To-
ronto and T. A. Sawyer, and one
sister, Mrs. J. Stafford, of Van-
couver.
Mrs, Green was a tireless work-
er in the church for over 40
years.

parade of aprons. This will
he the annual meeting with elec-
tion of officers and annual re-
ports.On Monday evening, April 18
at,, 8..30 a bingo will be held in
the town hall sponsored by the
Chamber of Commerce.
The new gas well, which was
recently discovered near Dash-
wood is on the farm of Irvine
Devine, son of Mr. Henry Devine.
This farm has been in the Devine
family for over 40 years.

Funeral services for James Ir-
win, 7.5, Who died ,,suddenly in
Grand Bend on Thursday follow-
ing a heart attack, were held from
the Hoffman funeral home on
Monday_ afternoon. The Rev. W.
Smith, of Gland Bend, officiated
and interment was made in For-
est cemetery, Orangeville.
Mr. Irwin, whose wife died sev-
,eral years ago, had spent same
time with his daughter, Dr. Isabel
Irwin, of Guelph and at the time
of his death was staying with his
son, the Rev. M. IMdDonald Irwin,
chaplain at CaMp Inneriva.-611.
Two other sons, John A., of
Montreal and James, of -Burling-
ame, Cal and two brothers and
one eister survive.

Agent Announces
A 50 per cent increase in an-
nual automobile insurance divi-
dends has 'been declared for Lum-
berntets [Mutual Casualty Com-
pany policyholders, according to
Mr. Harvey of the E. C. Harvey
Agency, Eeeter.
The increase, -which will make
a total ef 15 per cent paid on all
foierre of auto insurance, was an-
nounced at a Meeting ot the
cotnpany's representatives In Tore
onto on April 6. The dividend was
voted by the Luinhermens board
of directors and Met announced

dividend will be payable on pol-

pupils at the public school held
"open house" on Thursday eve-
ning, March 24. M. Ray Mills
showed pictures and an old-time
spelling match was held with
the pupils competing against the
adults, The adults were the win-
ners. Mr. Baillie was chairman
for the program,
Rev. A. Laing, of Guelph, at -
Mary Singular, of Ailsa Craig. It
was Mrs. Singular's eighty-fifth
birthday. She returned with them
-and is visiting at their home.

Ministers and laymen of the
Perth Presbytary gathered in the
United Church, Woodhana, on
Wednesday, March 30, for the
Second annual Presbytery Retreat.
The Retreat began at 10 a.m.
with the Sacrament of the Lord's
Supper being administered by the
chairman of the presbytery, Rev.
J. D. Martin, assisted by the
minister, Rev, J. H. Slade, and
elders of Woodham Church.
Addresses were given by Rey.
W. S. MacLeod, Rev. T. G. Head,
Rev. B. E. Newnham and Rev.
James Cross.

served dinner in the church base-
ment.
