On Thursday, April 7, the Lu,.

ing Electrics 6-4 in one of the
most thrilling games 'witnessed
in the local Arena this year.
The goal scorers for the Irish
were Ted Elder with three, Steve
Storey'with two and Bill Smith
with one.
On Monday, April 11, the
Electrics defeated Lucan 6-3 in
Wallaceburg. The goal scorers

Storey, The next game of this
series was in Wallaceburg Wed-
nesday night and the teams come
back to Lucan Friday, April 15,

Lucan defeated Norwich 17-0 in
their first game. Paul Conlin with
six goals and Clifford Achison
with five led the Lucan scoring

New Sports
Plazas are being made to con-
duct boxing training for young -
eters at the •Commurity Centre
as soon as all hockey is termin-
ated for the season. This club
-will be guided by Dave Eagan
who has had a vast amount of
experience training amateur and
professional boxers,
An outdoor basketball court is
presently under construction and
the local youths should, derive
a great deal of training and
pleasure out of this wonderful
sport.

Next course, which willbe.

Wednesday, April 20, in the Com-
munity iCentre at 8 p.m. The
course will be taught by Mrs.
f Gladys Reilly. The tooling equip-
ment for the above is being

Make Donations
The members of the Women's
AsSociation of the United Church
held their Easter meeting in the
Church Parlqurs on Wednesday
afternoon with Mrs. 0. H. George
presiding.
Roll call was answered by
articles or the fall bazaar.
It was voted to assist with a
banquet for the church hockey
league, assuming a share of the
expenses, A. donation of $25 was
voted to .assist in sending the
Sunday school staff to a Flle-
treat" for Sunday school teachers
and officers at Five Oaks, in
June.
The third annual meeting. of
IlViiddlsex ,Presbytery W.A. was,
announced to be held in First
St. Andrew's Church beginning at
9 p.m. on Friday, April 29. Re-
pairs to the Honour Roll for
World War I are almost com-
pleted and the work done is being
donated by Messrs. William and
Clarence Haskett.
Mrs, Percy Armitage, group
convenor, took charge of the pro-
gram, giving a reading on Easter.
She was assisted by Mrs, J. Lock-
Yer reading the scripture and
Mrs. T. Hill and Mrs. Cecil Robb
gave appropriate Easter mess-
ages.

Twenty members and one visit-
or attended the April meeting of
Holy Trinity Woman's Auxiliary
held last Wednesday afternoon at
the hem° of Miss 'Line, Abbott.
Mrs, Harold Corbett•presided and
was assisted in the devotions by
Mrs. R. Hamilton and Mrs. Wil-
son Hodgins. Mrs. D. Ashworth,
one 'Of the branch's shut-ins, was
able to be brought to the meet-
ing. She read the scripture lesson
and Mrs, 'Erwin Scott led in the
Litany.
Members were asked to make a
special effort to attend the sixty-
eighth annual meeting to be held
ht Cronyn Hall and Masonic
Temple, London, May 3 to May 5,
and also to the Deanery meeting
which will be held this year at
Holy Trinity Church, Lucan, on
May 26, Rey. P. K. Imar, now of
Toronto, will speak on the
Japanese Church.

Reeve Dies °
At Arena
Melvin T. Bradley, 62, who
died very suddenly while selling
tickets at the Lucan arena last
Thursday, was the son of the late
John and Elizabeth Bradley and,
Was born in McGillivray town-
ship. He attended Brinsley Public
School and' •Luean High Sclidol.
Except for seven years with the
Department of Public Works in
Toronto, he lived all his life in
this locality. He was in his third
year as reeve of Lucan, having
previously served three years as
councillor. He was unmarried.
Funeral services were held
from the Murdy funeral home at
2 p.m., Monday, with the Rev, J,
F. Wagland officiating. Interment
was in St, ?ernes' Cemetery,
Clandeboye, Pall bearers were
John McIntosh, Cecil Lewis, Roy
Stanley, Jack Lankin, Alex Young
and Don Chown.
He Is survived by three sisters,
Rose Anne, of Lucan, and Lily
and Millie, of Toronto, „end two
brothers, Roy, of Toronto and
William, of Parkhill.
E. A. Hawkshaw
Active In Church
Edward A, Hawkshaw, who
had been hospitalized since be-
ing hit by a car on 2a1n Street,
Lucan, last Hallowe'en, died in
London on Saturday in. his eight-
ieth year. Son of the late Thomas
H. Hawkshaw and the former
Ann Fox, he was born in Lucan.
He began work as a barber in
Granton. After spending a num-
ber of years in Vancouver, he re-
tunred to Lunn about 35 years
ago .and has lived retired since.
He was unnfarried and was a
faithful member of Holy 'Trinity
Church where he was sexton
from 1941 until 1945 and sides -
man for a number or years. He
was a former member of the
Lions Club and a great ball fan.
Funeral services were held
from the Murdy funeral home on
Tuesday, April 12, with the Rev,
Wagland of Holy Trinity
Church officiating. Interment
was in St, James! Cemetery,
Clandeboye.
Pall bearers were Pave Ash-
worth, Harold Whyte, H. S, Stan-
ley, U. F. Stanley, Thomas Lee
and Alex Young.
One nephew and one niece are
his only survivors. . •
Choir Observes Anniversary
The Junior Choir of Holy
Trinity Church, wearing their
new cassocks, had charge of 'the
music Sunday evening. After the
service they celebrated their sec-
ond anniversary with a birthday
party in the bas.ement.,followed
by an impromptu program. A
huge birthday cake, inscribed
with "Happy Second Anniversary
junior 'Choir", was enjoyed by
all. Mr. Wagland moved a vote of
thanks to Mrs. K. Egan, Mrs. Ray
Elson and Mrs. Clarence Hardy
who provided , the refreshments
and to those who helped to serve.
Among the guests were a number
of those who assisted in the mak-
ing of the cassocks.
Attend Easter Service
The Lucan-Clandeboye Explor-
ers met on Wednesday • evening,
April 6, for a brief Expedition
prior to parading to church. The
final section of the experimental
project "Exploring Worship" was
completed.
Announceinent was inade of
the two Explorer camps being
held the first and second weeks
in July at the C.0.1.T. camp site
on Lake Erie, near Simcpe, and
of the junior girls camp the last
week in August at Bimini. All
Explorers are asked to report
at the text Expedition which, if
any, camp they wish to attend.

Thomas Warner MeRobers died
suddenly at his home, Lucan, on
Saturday. Son of the late Wil-
liam Edward McRoberts and the
former Mary ,Ann Pattison, he
was born in London township
where he farmed until 1915 when
he moved to a farm. on the south
edge of Litman.
For the 'past 11 Years he had
been in poor health and retired
from active turning.
.His first wife, the former
Aland Haskett, died In 1925. In
1934 he married Inez Vinetta
Creery who survives him. Be
was a member of Lucan United
eliilineenh.
Fral services were conduct-
ed from the 0. Haskett and Son
funeral home on Tuesday., by the
Rev, E. M. Cook, Interment was
in $t. James' Cemetery, Clande-
boye. Pall bearers were Gordon
McRoberts, Lionel Hendrick, Mal-
colm ,Lamond, Walter Creery,
Harold Westman and Ralph Pitt.
Besides his wife, his only sur-
vivor is one sister, Mrs. Allen
Westman, of Lucan.
Legion Auxiliary Meets
The regular monthly meeting
of the Ladies Auxiliary to the
Canadian Legion was held in the
Legion rooms, April. 5, with Mrs.
J. Freeman, Mrs. A, Bell and
Mrs. B, Downey as hostesses. The
date for the monthly euchre was
set for April 27 at 8:30 p,m.
Plans were made for a bake sale
to be held in the Stanley drug
store at, 2:30 p.m., April 30.
Pentecostal Cliurch News
Owing to a long winter and
bad weather conditions, work on
the new Pentecostal Church was
at a standstill for months and
the Easter opening had to be
postponed.° Last Thursday, flee
men from the Chatham church
came up and assisted with the
siding. As yet no new 71at4% can
be set for the opening.

At the largely attended com-
munion and reception service in
the United Church Good Friday
evening, the following members

Teachers' Meeting
° Last Tuesday afternoon, Lucan
teachers attended the April meet-
ing of the Biddulph and North
London Teachers' Association at
the Southgate School where Mrs.
Erickson was hostess. The sched-
uled speaker, Inspector of Sepa-
rate Schools, J. F. Kinlin, was
unable to attend due to illness.

dancing which Will compete in
London Sports- Fair April 18 to

Miss Thompson, teacher, pre-

child with a colored basket filled
with Easter eggs.
