Little .Damage
Despite Gusts
Despite ,gusts up to 97 nines
per hour, Tuesday's snowstorm
caused little damage in this area.
Televiston aerals, telephone and
hydro poles and trees were about
the only victims of the raging
winds.
Although only three inches of
snow fell, it swirled up In inounds
around buildings and most house-
holders had to dig themselves out
Wednesday morning.
Tuesday night's hockey game in
Exeter with the Goderieh Sailors
was cancelled because of the road
conditions. Visibility was practi-
cally zero in the rural areas.
A Huron Street tree which was
blown down by the wind caused
a hydro interruption for several
hour;?•in that area. Several hydro
poles in the area snapped during
the night but crew restored them
Wednesday.
A hydro gang front the Local
office went to Lucan area Tues-
day night to help with distur-
bances there.
Telephone lines "to Kirkton,
Dashwood and Grand Bend were
out for awhile. The line to Kirk-'
ton had not been restored late
Wednesday afternoon,
Lake Huron waves did little
damage at Grand Bend. Four fish-
ing boats were caught in the
storm but reached shore without
too mueh difficulty.
The weekly weather report
from RCAF Station Centralia
shows some precipitation on ev-
ery day during the past week ex-
cept Saturday. Low for the week
was 18.6 on Thursday and high
was 47.5 Sunday.
