Plans Birthday
The Women's Missionary Sp-
ciety of the United Church met
on. Thursday afternoon with Mrs.
W, J. Rogers presiding,
Invitations will be extended
to the W,M,,S. groups of Zurich,
Goshen, Chiselherat, the Anglican
Church and Carmel Church
groups and the Evening Auxiliary
of the United Church, to be
guests at the W.M.S, birthday
party March 20, at which Mrs,
Pike of Ilderton will be guest
speaker. The following com-
mittees were named; Invitations,
Mrs. W. B. Cross; reception,
Mrs. G. Armstrong, Mrs. L. Eiler,
Miss M. Ellis, Mrs. E. Geiger and
Mrs. Cross; devotional program,
Mrs. Geiger's group; lunch, Miss
M. Ellis and Mrs., L. Eller's
group; decorating, Mrs. Arm-'
strong's group.
A committee was named to
work with the Evening Auxiliary
to purchase a stove for the
kitchen, Mrs. T. Coates, Miss M.
Ellis, Mrs. R, Paterson, Mrs. T.
Sherritt. Mrs. W. Henry gave
temperance notes.
Mrs., L. Eller conducted .the
program. Mrs. E. Sproat led the
devotional period and Miss A.
Consitt introduced the study
chapter, Sketches of various" re-
ligions were given by Mrs. G,
Hess, on "Buddhism", Mrs. Eller
on "Jaynism Islem and Schism",
Mrs. J. Richardson on "Hindu-
ism"Mrs. G. Thompson "Com-
munism".
Mrs. Eiler conducted a quiz
and with Mrs, Richardson, Mrs.
Hess, Mrs. Siiroai, Mrs. Thomp-
son, Mrs. W. Venner, Miss Con-
sitt and Mrs. Kipfer sang a
hymn accompanied by 'Mrs, T.
J, Sherritt.
Mrs. Glenn Deitz and family
visited last week with relatives
in Seaforth.

The theme of the worship con-
ducted by Mrs, W. R. Kinsman
was "Let this mind he in you",
Mrs. T. Brintnell and Mrs. W. J.
Rogers assisted, Mrs, S. Rpobol,
Mrs W. R, Kinsman and Mrs.
T. Brintneil sang a hymn acegm-
papied at the piano by Mrs.
Carl Stoneman, Mrs. Rogers
contributed a reading.
Mrs. Stoneman,reviewed the
last chapter from he study book
On "India" and Mrs. R. Boyce
gave temperance notes.
Mrs. T. D, Wren was present-
ed with a life membership and
pin. An address was read by
Mrs. Benson Stoneman and the
presentation made by the presi-
dent, Mrs, Brintnell.
A bale valued at $180 had been
packed and forwarded to head-
quarters at Toronto for the
needy in Europe.
A brief meeting of the Wo-
men's Association was in charge
of Mrs. Percy Harris.
Lunch was in charge of Mrs.
Lloyd McLean, Mrs. W. R.
Kinsman and Mrs, Carl Stone-
man.

the home of Mrs. Thos. Scott who
presided and led in devotional
exercises. Mrs, Frances Glossop
had charge of the study book les-
son with Mrs. James Howe, Mrs.
M. Haughton and Mrs. T. Laing
assisting. The topic "The Peace
of God" was given by Mrs. J. M.
Scott. Prayers were offered by
Mrs. Frank Harburn and Mrs. M.
Lomond. Mrs. Houghton had
charge of the Ladies' Aid meeting.
Mrs.Grace 'Wren, Chiselhurst,
visited on Sunday ,with Mr. and
Mrs. T. Laing.
Mr, and Mrs, H. R. Currie
and -Linda Ann, of London:, spent
the weekend with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Otto Walker.
Hugh Scott, son of Mr. and
Mrs. T. L. Scott, is confined to
Stratford hospital, where heo is
under observation.

spent the week -end with Misses
Ruth, Mildred and Carolyn Howe.
The Cromarty chopping mill
has been purchased by the Great
Star Milling Company, St. Marys
and is at present under the man-
agement of Mr. Archie_.•, Coope, ,
Mitchell.

and baby visited on Tuesday with
Mr. and Mrs. M. Houghton.
'Phe Y.P.S. met Sunday even-
ing with Mr. Philip James -presid-
ing. Miss Ethel Mae Norris had
