McCarthy Last .Of Famity Miss Anne McCarthy, •89, died on March 4 at her late residence, Concession 10, Biddulph, where she was born and spent all her life. Her parents were the late Michael and Johanna McCarthy. The body rested at her late home till .M'onday,'Maxeh 7, when it was taken to St, Patrick's Church where Requiem High Mass was sung at 10 a.m. Rev. J. A. Machesy officiated.. Inter- ment was in adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Jos. Grace, John Beatson, Ern Meoarthy, James. Kennedy, Tom Casey and Delbert Morley. e }Miss McCarthy was .the last member of her family and her only survivors are a number of nieces and nephews. Former Lucanite Inj jur id •Stanley Hodgins, 51, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hodgins, who .at one time lived en Alice St., Lucan, and his wife, now of London, were involved in a car accident in last week -end's fog, !Both were taken to .St, Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Hodgins was re- leased after treatment but Mrs. Hodgins was kept in the hospital. The Hodgins' car collided with a department of highway truck driven be IGdrdon •Pincombe, R.R. 1, London, who climbed out of his overturned machine un- hurt. 'Property damage was estimated at about $$,500. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Robb visited with Dr. and Mrs, J. G. MdLeod of Kincardine last Friday. While there they attended the Rebekah Lodge service at the Linklater funeral home for Mrs. Robb's cousin, Mrs. Wilf Geddes, whose death occurred on Thursday. Rand Born In Belgrave Funeral services for Mrs, Thomas Rands, the former Ara- bella Armstrong, who died Fri- day, March 4, at the home of her daughter, Mrs, :Guy Ryan, Concession 4, Biddulph, were held on Saturday from the Murdy funeral home Lucan, Rev. J. H. Wagland of Holy Trinity Church officiated. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. Pallbearers avere Tom Coursey, Allan Rvan, Art Erickson, Stan Wheeler, Nelson Reed and Lloyd Wheeler, Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong, (origi- nally of Ireland), she was born in Belgrave. She and Mr. Rands lived in Seaforth before moving to the home of -their daughter 16 years ago where the former died 11 years ago. For the past eight years Mrs. Rands has been in poor "mania. • Her only survivor is her daughter, Mrs, Guy Ryan of Lucan, The Lucan Home and 'School. Mr. Skipper spoke on the new projects at the school and the addition of a new chicken house and a green house to tbe schools' equipment. +Discussing "Education for Far- ming," it was felt that Completion of the high school course and additional agricultural training were.the ideal preparation for a farming career if finances and academic ability make it possible. High school is the place for agricultural education but not under the present educational system. Extension courses, radio pro- grams and agricultural bulletins were mentioned as •aids for the young man unable to attend col- lege.
