Attracts Skaters

noted at the Valentine skating
carnival at the arena Friday even-
ing, sponsored by the Arena
Board.

A social evening was held in
the Legion Rooms on Wednesday
night, February 9, when Hensall
Women's Institute had a special
guests the "Men." Mrs. {Fred Beer
and Mrs. Harry Horton were
capable hostesses. President, Mrs,
George Armstrong, opened the
meeting.
The sick members were men-
tioned, Mrs. R. Middleton and
Mr. Harry Horton, who is in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.
Beautiful knitted wear was
turned in by Miss Greta Lammie
and 'Mrs. A. Alexander for the
Children's Aid Society, Huron
County. 'More garments are need-
ed and ladies may secure wool
from 'Mrs. A. Orr.
Mrs. Armstrong then asked for
volunteers to help at the booth
at the arena. Those offfering
were Mrs. Beer, Mrs. G. , Hess,
Mrs. L. Chapman, Mrs. A. Shir-
ray, Mrs. E. Norminton, Mrs. A.
Foster, Mrs. A. Joynt, Mrs. Sim-
mons, Mrs. Elsie Carlisle, others
to be added.
The program conveners, Mrs.
N. J. Paterson and Mrs. C. Cook,
are to be commended for t
attractive Valentine decorations.
Under their directions, enter-
tainment in the form of euchre
was enjoyed, 12 tables in play.
The winners were Mrs. E. Sproat,
W. R. Dougall and Mrs. Carlisle.

recently with relatives in Lis-
towel.
Mr. William Workman is slight-
ly improved in health,
Mrs. Garth Mosher, Trenton,
spent the weekend with her •par-
ents, Rev. and Mrs. N, McLeod,
at the manse,
Mr. Bob Love, of the Univers-
ity of Toronto, spent the weekend
with his parents, Mr, and Mrs.
Ross Love.
Mr. Emerson Kyle is making
extensive alterations to his gene-
ral store in the village,
Mrs. J. Ducharme, Dashwood,
spent a day last week with her
mother, Mrs. J. McClymont.
Mrs, William . Windor, accom-
panied by Mrs. Sheffee, of Gode-
rich, and Mrs. Franks, of London,
left last week to have a holiday
in Sarasota, Florida.

Mrs. Gibson, Sr., visited recently
with the latter's daughter and

Gail Ann Gackstetter spent
Monday night with her cousins,

Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Taylor and
Terry, of Stratford, visited Sun-
day with Mrs. Taylor's mother,
Mrs. R. Dinsdale, and aunt, Miss

The many friends of Mr. Ervin
Willert will regret to learn that
he is confixled to the home with
blood poisoning in •his right arm.
Mrs. Percy Graham, who left
this week for Orlando, Fla., where
she will spend six weeks, was pre-
sented with a gift from the lades'
bridge club before leaving.

Mrs. E. 'Geiger gave enlighten-
ing remarks dealing with service.
At the close she called upon 'Mrs,
W. Forrest, Miss ,A, Consitt and
Mrs. J. Richardson to come for-
ward and Mrs. Rogers made pre-
sentation of life memberships in
recognition of their faithful ser-
vice.
The literature secretary, Mrs.
N. E. Cook, gave an interesting
paper,
Mrs. George, Armstrong, No, 1
group leader,,,, then occupied the
chair. Mrs. •C, Cook read sorip-
ture passages and Mrs. Rogers
offered prayer. Mrs, R. J. Pater-
son, Mrs. Eva Carlile, Mrs. A,
Joynt and Mrs. A. B. Rowcliffe
followed with a discussion on In-
dia. Mrs. Paterson took the part
of a missionary and the others as
guests who were interviewed.
Mrs. Armstrong and group fav-
ored with a chorus accompanied
by Mrs. Sherritt. A social hour
was enjoyed.
Carmel Church Ladles' Aid
The regular meeting of the
Ladies' Aid of Carmel. Presbyter
Ian Church was held at the home
of Mrs. Clarence Reid .Monday
afternoon with twentylfive ladies
present.
Mrs. Reid's group was in
charge of the devotional part of
the meeting, Mrs. Alex McGregor
led the group in prayer and Mrs.
Glen Bell read the scripture les-
son.
Several items of business were
taken care of. A donation of $20
was voted to be sent to the York-
ville Girl's Home, Toronto and
$5 to the local Girl Guides Asso-
ciation.
The ladies are planning to
have a minstrel show put on by
the ladies of Duff church, Walton
early in March.

The Women's Missionary Socie-
ty of Chiselhurst United Church
held their February meeting with
the president, Mrs. W. ,Brintnell
in the chair. The worship period
was conducted by Mrs. Earl Tref-
fry; scripture passages read by
Mrs. R. McDonald, and a,,,reading
by Mrs. 'CanWbell Eyre. Mrs. T. D.
Wren reviewed the study book,
"Growth of the Indian Church."
A brief meeting of the W.A.
was held, conducted by the presi-
dent, Mrs. Percy Harris. Many in-
teresting items w'ere 'brought up.

The Kir4ton Women's Institute
presented their play, "'Maid of
Money", in Aberdeen Hall on
Thursday evening to a full house.
The play, a comedy, gave the
audience many amusing moments.

entertained the members of the
cast .after the play.

The regular meeting of the
Ladies' Guild and W,A. of St.
Paul's Anglican Church was held
at the home of Mrs. R. Hum-
phreys Thursday afternoon. The
President, Mrs. Alex Irvine, of the
W.A., took charge of the meet-
ing. Mrs. T. A. Wiseman read the
scripture lesson. Plans were lnade.

Kippen East Women's Institute
sponsored a successful euchre
and dance in the town hall Friday
evening with 30 tables in play.
The winners were: Mrs. Clar-
ence Volland, Hensall; Mrs. W. D.
Wilson, of Brucefield; John Hen-
derson and Joe McLellan, of Kip -
pen. The lucky lunch prize went
to Wm.'Broadfoot, Kippen..

who occupied the pulpit of Car-
mel Presbyterian Church was a
week -end guest with Mr. and Mrs.
