Gwenneth Tomes and Toni Tomes,
all of Clandeboye. Othesr from
Lucan were Miss Audrey White-
head and Lynn Sawyer. Mrs. C.
Smith directed the play. Three
other plays were presented,
"Here you are folks. Don't pay

'Sinners' Winners
Of .AYPA Debate
At the regular meeting of the
Lucan-Clandeboye A.Y.P.A. held
in the Parish Hall and conducted:

less, A.Y.P.A. members from Ex-
eter and Ailsa, Craig and their
rectors, Rev. N. D. Knox and
Rev. A. A. Nield, were guests.
The new secretary, Miss Helen
Howard, who had to be elected
when Douglas Stone joined the

members, Peter Lewis, Tom
Tomes and Clare Paton, were in-
stalled by the Rev. J. F. Wag -
land.
The highlight of the meeting
was an interesting and amusing
debate on arena Sunday skating,
presented by the "Saints" and
"Sinners" and led by Misses Joan
Murless and Marion Coursey and
Mr. Wagland and Tom Tomes,
All present were invited to me a
"Saint" or a "Sinner" After the
"fireworks" ceased, the judges
decided in favour of the "Sin-
ners".
Plans were discussed for a
sleigh -ride party, which has since
ha dto be postponed until a later
date.
Wins Drama Festival Award
Rev. J. F. Wagland, M}'. and
Mrs, C. Lewis, Mrs. Helen Wat-
son and Miss Lina Abbott, as well
as a good representation of the
Lucan-Clandeboye A.Y.P.A„ at-
tended the annual Rural Drama
Festival at Strathroy last Tues-
day night. Though the adjudicat-
or, Mrs, Florence Scott, of the
London Little Theatre, did not
give the award of the best play
to Lucan's "A Merry Mix-up," she
did give the award for the best
actress to Lucan's president, Miss
Joan Murless, of Clandeboye.
Mrs. Bob Coleman spent last
Tuesday in Exeter with her sis-
ter, Mrs. Frank Coates, who has
been on the sick list,
Mr. Howard Currie has been
off work for a week and a half
with an injured eye.
Mrs. Irene Coursey has . re-
ceived word that her nephew,
Hobert Ford, son of Mr. and Mrs,
Fred Ford, sailed on Thursday,
February 10 for Okinawa, an
island near Japan, where he ex-
pects to be stationed for the
next two years.
Mrs, W. W, Garrett, Doreen
and Jack spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Bab Coleman.
Mrs. W. T. Amos, who has
been on the sick list, is able Ito
be out.
The sound of sleigh bells wee
heard on Lucan streets on Satur-
day when Lucan's milk man,
Ivan Hearn had to resort to a
sleigh to make his deliveries.

Pentecostals
Erect Church
Rev. J. A. Gralxam and his
handful of Pentecostal followers
are overcoming, what to many,
seemed like unsuriuountable odds
in the erection of a Pentecostal
Church on part of the property
once owned by Col. D. Rosa, now
Of London. Today, the roof is on
the 32'x50' frame building which
will contain a basement and main
auditorium, Even with all volun-
teer labour, it is expected the
cost may even. exceed $20,000.
With a church membership of 22
and a Sunday School enrolment
of $3, these Christian people are
going ahead in faith that God
will bless their efforts. Alread»
donations •have been received
from members of other churclxes.

At one time, Pentecostal ser-
vices wehe held over the old
post office, where the library now
is, but for years have been held
in the Orange Hall on William
Street. Rev. J. A. Graham has
been in charge for the past seven
years. He took a three-year course
at Proton's Bible College. Before
coming to Lucan he was in charge
of a church at Markham.
He and Mrs. Graham have a
,family of five girls* and three
boys. The oldest girl, June, at-
tended Bible College at Zion
Bible Institute, Rhode Island,
and is now assisting in Sunday
broadcasts at Mt, Dennis. The
oldest son, •Byrnel, is at present
attending Holmes Bible°College,
Grenville, S.C.
To augment the salary paid by
his small congregation, Mr, Gra-
ham works at his carpentry trade
and has been working hand-in-
hand with his congregation in
the building of the new church

At the annual meeting of the
Granton Library Board the fol-
lowing officers were elected:

Mr. and Mrs, Frank Dickins,
of Ailsa Craig, spent last Thurs-
day with Mr, and Mrs. Bob Cole-
man.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Drennan, of Alice St.,
Lucan, on the birth of a son, John
Paul, in Victoria Hospital Friday,
February 11; abrother for Bon-,
nie and Jimmie.
Mrs. Charles Cook, of Market
St., was taken to St. Joseph's
Hospital on Sunday morning.
Owing to the depth of snow in
their lane, Mr. and Mrs. Herb
Stratton and family have, been
staying with Mr. and Mrs. `:Oecil
Hodgins for the past 10 days.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Noels and
fancily, of Aylmer, spent last
weekend with Mrs. William Dic-
kins and Mr, and Mrs. Maurice
McDonald spent Saturday with
her.
Area Credit Union
Declares Dividend
In the absence of the presi-
dent, Mr. B. H. Elliott, the Rev.
J. F. Wagland presided at the
annual meeting of the Lueen
Credit Union held in the .base-
ment of the Anglican Church last
Wednesday evening. All reports
presented showed the Union had
a successful year.
After some discussion, it was
decided to clear: up some out-
standing debts and just pay a

of last year. The door prize—a
calendar bank—was won by Miss
Lina Abbott. A dime deposited in
the bank changes the day and a
quarter ohanges the month,
Car Accident
No, 4 Highway, near Birr, was
the scene of another ear accident
late Thursday evening, which
hospitalized two men and heavily
damaged two cars when they
collided on the slushy pavement.
Ronald H. Brown, 22, of .St.
Marys, escaped with back injuries
when his car overturned. John
Black, 26, of London, sustained
head, leg and arm cuts. Both
were taken to St. Joseph's Hos-
pital.
Baby Shower.
Mrs. J. W. Lockyer and baby
daughter were guests of honor at
a baby shower last Monday eve-
ning at the home of Mrs. Percy
Armitage. After the opening and
displaying of many baby articles,
three games of bingo were play-
ed. The winners were Mrs. C, H.
George, Mrs. C. Magoffin and
Mrs. Herman' Young, The bingo
was followed by a sewing con-
test which was won by Mrs. Dave
Park.
The men of Holy Trinity
Church met at the church Mon-
day evening to make final ar-
rangements for the oyster (or
ham) supper to be served in the
church basement Thursday eve-
ning, February 17.
Confirmation classes continued
again in Holy Trinity Church.
Confirmation for Lucan and
Clandeboye candidates will be
held in Holy Trinity Church on
Friday, March 11.
Miss Carol Brooks, of London,
spent the weekend with Mrs. T.
Brooks and family.
Lions Club Dinner
Mrs. Cliff Shipley's group of
Holy Trinity Guild catered for
the Lions Club dinner held in
the church basement on Monday
evening. Some 30 members of the
Ilderton Lions Club were guests.
As the expected filin failed to
arrive, two other films, "Trails
To Snow Caps," and "Aviation
Show In England", were substi-
tuted and enjcyed by all present.
A number of the Lucan C.G.I.T.
members braved Saturday's bliz-
zard and depth of scow to make a
house to house sale of chocolates.
The sale will continue next Sat-
urday.
Mrs, Wilr Davis, of Saints -
bury, is staying with Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Hodgins and is as-
sisting with the nursing of Mr.
Hodgins who had the misfortune
to break his arm recently. Mrs.
H. A. Mullins and Mrs. Harry
Carroll also spent a few days
last week with their parents.

arch rivals, the Ilderton Wild -
cola, in three straight exciting
games,, in the semi-finals of the
Cyclone League,
The second game, played on
Tuesday, February S, went into
overtime and the score ended up
5.3 in Lucan's favour. Lucan
goal .scorers were Shifty Steve
Storey with two and singles went
went tMurray� n to Herb e b Stret on, Mur
Valiquette and Glen Revington.
The third andfinal game re-
sulted in a 5-4 score for Lucan
and thus .eliminated Ilderton from
the series. Lucanscorers were
Ron Stevenson with two and Herb
Stratton, Steve Storey and Mur-
ray Valiquette scored singles.
Lucan now meets Zurich in
the group finals with the• .first
game slated for Lucan on Tues-
day, February 15,
Minor Hockey
The Bantams were defeated by
Cheyennes on Saturday, February
12 by a scale of 3-1. Don "Goose"
Lankin scored the lone Lucan
goal.
Church League Hockey
Official standings after Febru-
ary 9 games in the church league
are: R.C: s and the United Church
tied with 17 points; Anglicans,
eight points; Clandeboye,* two
points.
W.A. Executive Meets
Atka recent meeting of the
executive of the United Church
W.A., the date for the proposed
ham supper was set for Thurs-
day, March 10, with admission
$1.00 for adults and 50 for child-
ren,
Additions were made to the
committees as follows: flower
committee, Mrs. R. Pitt and Mrs.
ID. M. Cook, with Mrs. Myron
Culbert as convenor; kitchen com-
mittee, Mrs. Edgar McFalls and
Mrs. H. B. Langford; parsonage
committee, Mrs. T. Lee and Mrs.
Ira Carling, the latter named as
convenor.
Mr. Harold McFalls is making
an extended visit with his aunt,
Mrs. Irene Hicks, of Flint, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Hedden and
daughter, of Kimberley, spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. M.
Hedden.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hodgins

Mrs. G. Patrick, of Toronto, is
staying with her daughter, Mrs.
Mel Culbert, while Mr, Culbert
is in the hospital.

"Who Was the Monarch" con-
test were Miss Marlene Reving-
ton, of Lucan, and Mrs. M. J.
Campbell, R.R. 1, Ilderton, who
each won a 42 -piece chest of

silverware.
Guests with Ins. T. D. Orme
and Murray last week included
Misses Alice and Pearl Hiles, of
London, on Friday, and Dr. and
Mrs. Terry Orme and family who

home from Germany where the
doctor had been stationed for
e past two years. He is return-
ing now to his .dental office in
Seattle. The doctor is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Orme and a

C.G.I.P. Meeting
The Lucan C.G.I.T. met in the
United Church parlors Thursday
evening. February 10, with the
two leaders, Miss Carling and
Mrs, Roberts, in charge. Plans
were completed for the sale of
chocolates on Saturday, February
12. Most of the evening was
spent in the making of dolls.
The next meeting will be held
on Thursday, February 24, when
the final collection of jingle boxes
will be made. '
Mr. Percy Vahey and Mr." Mel
Culbert, who underwent opera-
tions in St. Joseph's Hospital
last week, are making satisfac-
tory recovery.
