Of Rec League
Due to icy roads Wednesday
night, the Rec Hockey League was
cut to a single game. The London
Cheyennes and Firemen didn't
chance the trip,
Exeter and Dashwood played as
as scheduled with Exeter winning
4-2. This was • a hard-fought game
all the way with Dashwood really
going all out the last five min-
utes in a vain effort to win.

Private funeral services were
held from the Bonthron Funeral
Home Tuesday, January 4 for
Rosie Jenkinson, adopted daugh-
ter of Mrs. J. D. Stewart of Hen -
sail. The deceased, who was in
her 42nd year, died in a London
Hospital on Sunday. Rev. W. J.
Rogers conducted the service and
burial was in Hensall Union Cem-
etery,

A meeting was held in the town
hall last Thursday night to or -

of RCAF Station Centralia, acted

of Hensall, secretary.
Officers appointed were: honor-

curlers have the arena every
Tuesday and Wednesday after-
noon.

Downs.

free soft drinks.

Hibbert Farmer
Active In Co-op
Frank Bruce, Hibbert town-
ship, died suddenly of a heart
attack at his home, lot 15, con.
P3, Friday, December 24. Out-
side of a few years spent in
Windsor he ha,d always resided
on his present farm.
lie was .horn on February 5,
1903, a son of Mrs. Laving Sil-
lery Bruce of Hibbert, and the
,late David Bruce. He was mar-
ried on June 19, 1926, to Ethel
L. Kleinfeldt, who survives. He
was a member of Staffa United
church and president of the Hib-
bert Co-operative Creamery, an
office he held for a number of
years.
Besides his wife and mother
he is survived by two sisters:
Mrs. Charlotte Balfour, Windsor,
and Mrs. Russell (Becky) Jlack-
son, Niagara Falls. Also surviv-
ing are two nephews, Bruce Bal-
four, Sault ' St. Marie, Murray
Balfour, Windsor, and two nieces,
Mrs. Garnet (Arlene) Cannon,
Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Robt.
(Marlene) Arth, Cheektowaga,
N.Y., one aunt and two uncles,
Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Sadler, Staf-
fa, and Robert Hoggarth, Strat-
ford.
The body rested at Ids late
home, lot 15, con. 13, Hibbert
township, 1I miles south of Crom-
arty, where the funeral service
was held on Monday, Rev. A. H.
Daynard of Staffa United church
officiated, assisted by Rev. D. A.
MacMillan of R.R. 2 London.
Mrs. Henry Harburn presided
at the organ and accompanied
the Cromarty quartette, Frank
'Stagg, Eldon Allen, Ernest Tem-
pleman and Robert. Laing.
The pallbearers were a brother-
in-law, Elmer Kleinfeldt; a cousin
John Sadler; Gerald Agar, Cald-
er McKaig, William Harper and
Angus McKaig. The flower bear-
ers were Joseph Hackett, Wind-
sor; • Robert 'Sadler, Kenneth
Kleinfeldt, Henry Harburn, Fil-
mer Chappell, Russell Butler,
Keith McLaren, Wesley Russell
and 'Harvey Dow. Interment was
made in Staffa cemetery.

The Community Youth Fellow-
ship met in the United Church
school rooms Monday evening
with 14 members present. Pat
Chambers was in charge of the
meeting. Ellis Stewart read the
scripture, Mr. and Mrs, Lorne
Pi'eszcator contributed a musical
number, Pat Chambers gave the
topic on "Knowing the Bible".
The young people voted to have
a howling party at Grand Bend
on January 14.
Fractures Arm
Mrs. W. H. Finkbeiner met
with a painful accident on Sun-
day, Following a visit .with her
nighbor, she was returning 'home
and fell on the icy pavement,
fracturing her right arm. She was
attended by Dr. Matthews and
later removed to South Huron
Hospital. She is now convalescing
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Fahrner.

Week of Prayer is being held
this week in the Crediton church-
es. Tuesday and Wednesday ev-
enings services were held he the
Evangelical church with Rev. Par-
rott bringing the message. Thurs-
day and Friday evenings Rev,

Dr. W. H. Matthews received
an unexpected number, of gifts
last week when his female ,Sam-
oiad dog presented him with ten
all -white puppies. One puppy fail-
ed to survive. The other nine are
doing fine.
Mrs. E, N. Mohr left for To
ronto on Tuesday to visit her
daughter, Mrs, Earl Robinson.
