The last meeting of the Council for

the members present. Minutes of last
meeting were read and approved.

A representative of the Padlar Peo-

prices on snow fences that would be
required this season. The question of

paid each of these officials for serv

Council instructed the treasurer to
pay only fifty per cent, of the am
ounts owing; the various school sec
tions at this date.

Play in Bruce Hockey League
The Bruce Hockey League reor
ganized for the season at a represen
tative meeting held at Mildmay, Re
ports by the secretary-treasurer indi
cated that the league had a success
ful year and a substantial cash bal
ance existed. Officers elected are:

a grouping will be arranged and
schedules drawn up at a meeting to
be held in Formosa,
Hew rules were adopted as follows:
That the residence date of any play
er will not extend beyond Dec, 15 of
the playing year; that teams failing
to appear for scheduled games, wea
ther conditions excepted, will forfeit
the game to the home team. A play
er who participates in one O.H.A,
game becomes ineligible to play in
the Bruce League.

FILL THE COOKIE JAR
The following recipes may make-
welcome additions to old cookie fav
ourites. By using butter as shorten1-
ing cookies will have not only a de*
licious and palatable flavour, but will'
be of high food valufe.'
Spice Drops
% cup butter
ll^aj cups brown sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
Pinch of salt
1% cups pastry flour
16 teaspoon cinnamon
% cup raisins
% cup. nuts
1 teaspoon soda
Vanilla
Cream butter and sugar. Add- eggs,
dry ingredients sifted together, rais
ins, nuts and yanilla. Drop by spoon
fuls on buttered baking sheet and
bake in moderate oven (37& degrees
F.) about 10- minutes,
Butter Wafers:
% cup brown, sugar
1 cup melted butter
1 egg:
1% cups1 pastry flour
16 teaspoon cream of tartar
Mi 'teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon, vamllla
Add butter to brown: sugar: Add
unbeaten egg,. Beat well'. Ad’di dry
sifted ingredients and vanilla. "Drop
by spoonfuls on unbuttered baking
sheet, Bake 4' to- 5' minutes- at 350’ de
grees F!
Butterscotch’ Cookies
1 cup brown sugar
Mz cup butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla •
116 cups pastry flour
J scant teaspoon soda
J4 teaspoon salt ;s
16 cup chopped walhuts (may be
omitted).
Cream butter and sugar and well-
beaten egg, Add vanilla and sifted
dry ingredients and nuts. Form into
rolls. Wrap in wax paper and chill
in the refrigerator. When required,
slice in thin slices and bake in a 37b
degree F, oven 8 to 10 minutes,

and cream well together. Add welL-
beaten1 eggs,, aftocolh’te.' melted! over
hot water, flour, baking powder, salt,,
vanilla' and. walnuts; Spread! ini well!
buttered pan one inch thick. Bake in1
a moderate oven (350 degress. F.)
20 to 25 minutes. Cut in squares-
while warm.
