Mr. Russel Reid of Brantford spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. Alec Reid, and she returned to Brant­ ford with him to spend the winter there. Mr. Alec Inglis of Windsor spent the week-end with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Thos. Inglis and Mr. Nat Thompson returned with him and spent a few days in Michigan. Miss Doris McClenaghan has been laid up with an attack of jaundice. Mrs. Henry Patterson has been in Stratford Hospital for the past three weeks. She went through a serious operation there, and her daughter, Miss Catherine Patterson, R. N. has been nursing her. The young people of the Presby­ terian church were entertained at Teeswater Presbyterian church on Monday evening. The local society was in charge of the program while the Tfceswater society was in of the recreation period and lunch. Don’t forget the meeting United Church on Friday evening when the coloured Slides, "Down by the Sea”, illustrating scenes of New­ foundland and Labrador will be shown. The W.M.S. ladies are hold­ ing a bazaar on Friday afternoon, December 9th, and will sell home made baking and serve afternoon tea. The ladies of the Woman’s Insti­ tute held a very successful Euchre last Tuesday evening when tile priz­ es were won by Agnes Gillespie and Mr. Lawrence Henderson. The prizes were geese, and the door prize was won by Mrs. Frank McCormick of Culross. The-Gully jumpers supplied splendid music for the dance follow­ ing. Miss Catharine Mowbray spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Jack McIntyre of Langside. The Christmas Concert of SS. S. The Scrip­ ture lessons were read by Charlie Moore and Mr. H. Pollock. Mrs. W. 1 R. Farrier led in prayer. Miss Lettie Fox* gave a reading I Am for Church, and Miss Genevieve Watt told a very interesting story of the church in Central Europe, where the” people brought their lights with them to church, and those who failed to ap­ pear at the service, left the church darker and drearier, and thus empha­ sized the need of all coming to each service. Clarence McClenaghan led in prayer. Mrs. Ezra Scholtz read a chapter from the study book, The World in Canada. Misses Edna May and Susan Carrick sang a duet. Plan Supper and Shower The Women’s Association of Knox United Church held its November meeting at the home of Mrs. Stewart Procter with a good attendance pres­ ent. Mrs, J. C. Procter, the president, conducted the meeting which was opened with the singing of Hymn 307 and Prayer by the president. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and treasurer’s report given. The various groups gave reports of their activities. The quilt made by the Belgrave group was displayed. Mrs. N. Keating sang a solo which was much -enjoyed. A nominating committee was appointed. Plans were made for a supper at the Annual congregational meeting. It was decided to have a shower for the church- kitchen at the next meeting and to leave the treasurer’s book open till after the next meeting. A' reading by Mrs. J. B. Townend and a solo by Mrs. J. The early part of the evening was spent in card games, the winners be­ ing Mrs. C. Wheeler and Ray Craw­ ford, and the consolation prizes go­ ing to Mrs. J. Fairservice and Wm. Cockerline. Yule accompanied by John Stewart met with a unfortunate ac­ cident on Thursday night while re­ turning from Mitchell when near Dublin the car left the road and turn­ ed over.
