But he kept dangling the possibil­ ity of a war-less solution of the Su­ deten German problem before Eur­ ope’s statesmen. In a 78-minute address before 25,- 000 persons in the Nazi congress hall, he closed the eight-day Nazi party convention by producing “self-deter­ mination” for the Germanic minority as the implied alternative to forcible action against Czechoslovakia. "I assure the democracies that the fate of the Sudetens is not a matter of indifference to us,”, he declared. “If these harassed people feel they are without rights and aid they will get both from us.” The French Government viewed Hitler’s Nuremberg speech as a virt­ ual threat to resort to armed force unless France and Great Britain com­ pel Czechoslovakia to turn over her Sudeten German regions to Nazi Germany. C. N. Mac- Kenzie officiating. The bride was becomingly gowned in maywine velvet with gold access­ ories and carried a bouquet of but­ terfly roses with adiantum fern. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served to members of the immediate families at the home of the bride’s parents. It being the reception of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Fitch. The young couple will reside on the gravel road. Mr. Jack Holland was in Wingham Saturday to see his little nephew, be­ fore he left the hospital for his home in Gorrie. The Presbytery meeting will be held in McIntosh church, Wednes­ day. Minnie Jeffray spent Sunday even­ ing at Harry Mulveys. The date set for the anniversary services in the United church is Oct. 9. The Institute meeting is being held on Tuesday, Sept. 20. A dance will be held -on Friday night under the auspices of the Agri­ cultural Society. Sinclair of Blyth gave two very in­ spiring sermons, which made great impressions on the heart and minds of the congregation, The service of Song rendered by Bluevale United church choir in the morning and Whitechurch United church choir in the evening was much appreciated. Our sincere thanks goes out to our sister churches by assisting in song and the attendance from various churches which filled the church to over flowing. The final game of this series was played Friday night in Wingham Town Park, Brussels winning by the close score of 7-6. Teeswater won the first game in Brussels but lost the second on their home field? The game here was a snappy exhibition played before a fairly large crowd. Brussels will now play Ripley in the finals.
