Miss Doris McClenaghan is visit­ ing this week with friends in Orange­ ville. When drawing in a load of hay at the farm of Mr. Pat McMillan, one day last week, the team ran away when the lines broke and Mr. Nat. Thompson was thrown to the ground and’received a nasty cut across his forehead and other minor injuries. Mr. Pete Kennedy was also thrown from a load of hay drawn by a run­ away team, and had his shoulder in­ jured besides other bruises. Mr. and Mrs. Basil Thompson, of Caledon spent the week-end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Moore. Mr. Pollock, of Ripley, has been se­ cured as teacher for S. S. No, 10, Kin­ loss, for next year. Rev. and Mrs. Graydon Cox and daughter, Donna, of Matheson, and her sister, Miss Olive Teriff, arrived on Sunday to visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Moore, also Mr, and Mrs. Duncan MacGregor and son, McKenzie, of Teeswater, motor­ ed to Collingwood on Sunday and visited with the former’s daughter, Mrs. Harold Sparling. Douglas and Marie returned home with them for the holidays. Word was received here of the mar­ riage at Pembroke on Wednesday, June 29th, of Miss Margaret Patter­ son and Mr. Wilfred Jacques, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Jacques of the vil­ lage. Robinson, .Miss Dorothy Pollock, R.N,, of Guelph, spent the week-end at the manse, with her parents, Rev. and Mrs, Pollock. A christening service was held in the United Church on Sunday when Rev. H, M, Wright christened Mar­ jorie Grace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes, and Arthur Gerald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robt, Laidlaw. Miss Myrtle Beecroft, R.N., who has been visiting at the home of her brother, J. D. Beecroft, for the past few weeks, left on Monday for her position in New London, Conn, Mrs. John Grierson and son, Bert, of Durham, and Mrs. Roy McGee vis­ ited on Sunday with (Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Naylor, Mr. Kenneth Laidlaw and Mr. Mc­ Kenzie Laidlaw left last week to work on a bridge at Woodstock. Mr, Archie Steel and Mr, Clarence Steel of London, and Mr. Frank Boyd and Mr. Harry Steel, Toronto, spent Sunday with their families at Kincardine beach, and then visited at the home of their aunt, Mrs. James Cornelius. Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Welwood and Richard, and Mr. and Mrs. John Fal­ coner, all of Caledon, spent Friday at the home of the latters’ sons, Mr. Cecil and Mr. James Falconer. Mr. and Mrs. John Falconer are staying for the summer months. Dr. and Mrs. Harold Robinson, of Walkerton visited last Wednesday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Robinson. Mr. Gilbert Beecroft motored to Colborne last Wednesday and Mr. Melville Beecroft returned home with him on Thursday when the school year was closed. Miss Olive Farrier left on Monday for London where she will continue her summer course in music at the Western University. Mr. Carman Farrier left on Monday to continue his Agricultural course at the O.A.C., Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. McLean and Mrs. W. A. Gibson and children, of Listowel, spent Sunday with M.r. and Mrs. Stewart Cross and their family, and Mr. Jack McLean, all of Walker­ ton, who are holidaying at their cot­ tage at Bruce Beach. Miss Marjorie Falconer, Wingham, spent last week with Miss* Jeam Wel­ wood. Mr. and Mrs, John McGee spent Friday last in London at the home of his sister, Mrs. Jennie Simpson. Mr. Clarence McClenaghan left on Monday to motor to Whitby to at­ tend the July 4 to July 10, session of the National Youth Congress of the United Church of Canada. He was accompanied by Rev. J. B. Townend. A quartette from the Unit­ er Church, Goldie Wheeler, John M. Coultes, George Jordan and Norman Keating, sang., a number, a selection by the Presbyterian choir and a solo by James McCrea of the Anglican choir, were all much appreciated. Rev. Barnett closed the service with the Benediction. The committee ex­ pressed thanks to Montgomery and Jacksoiftfor bringing the organ from the United Church and the use of the truck as a platform during the serv­ ice, also to A. Rann of Brussels who brought a load of chairs over for use during the service. Mr. and Mrs. E, E. Smith and fam­ ily, of Berkley, Mich., and Dr. D. E. Williams, of Pittsburg, Penn., were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. J, McKenzie. Mr. and Mrs. Jas.‘ Wightman and children, of Listowel, were visitors here Sunday. Miss Louise McKenzie is home from Sturgeon Fails for the holidays. Misses Ferrol Higgins and MyrtJe Yuill have gone to Guelph where they will take the short course. Mr. and Mrs.’ W. Scott, Fal- conbridge, and daughter, are at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Scott. Mr. Scott will spend most of the holidays at Kingston University taking the summer course. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Meiklejohn, of Kingston, were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ramsay, »Mrs. Meiklejohn will remain with her parents for the month of July before joining Mr. Meiklejohn at their cottage at Oak Lake. While Mrs. James Kerney was out in her garden on Friday morning she went over on her ankle and'suffered a severe sprain. Mr. Leonard Elliott who has been section foreman at Norval C.N.R, sta­ tion, has been transferred to Blue­ vale. Mr. Elliott’s duties commenced the first of the month.
