The rabbits averaged about 11 lbs. in weight. — Listowel Standard. 100 Lbs, of Honey Taken from Wallace School A regular, or should we say irreg­ ular “bee” - was held at S.S. No. 9, Wallace a few days ago. It had been noticed for some time that bees were swarming in and around the school building and they caused considerable nuisance by buzzing about the heads of the pupils on warm summer days. Several puny, attempts were made to rid the building of the unwanted Quests, but all to no avail. Finally W. C. Speers, local apiarist, was called in­ to consultation, and with the aid of Mr. Wm. Gregory, he removed a big section of the plaster on the walls and removed the insects. The gentle­ men were rewarded for their efforts with about one hundred pounds of honey.—Palmerston Observer. Hold-Up Mystery Cleared Up Lome Matthews, truck driver for the Fordwich Creamery, was sentenc­ ed to thirty days in Magistrate F. Watt’s court in Guelph. Some weeks ago Mr. Matthews reported to Palm­ erston police that he had been robbed by two thugs at Mr. Win. Morley’s gate, just at the outskirts of the town. Matthews claimed that the men had hit him over the head and relieved him of his employer’s mon­ ey. By piecing the available evidence together, police arrived at the con­ clusion that the man had spent con­ siderable of his employer’s money and faked the hold-up to clear him­ self. When confronted again and questioned by police, Matthews con­ fessed that the supposition was the truth.—Palmerston Observer. . House Burned While he was in Goderich deliver-, ing a load of hay, the farm home of Lome Thurlow, seven miles north of Goderich, on the Blue .Water High­ way, took fire and burned to the ground. .Most of the contents of the lower floor were saved, but those of the upstairs are a complete loss, fire started when the stovepipes lapsed. Little Lad Scalded Two-year-old Andrew Miller son of Andrew Miller, R. R. 2, Cred- iton,1 was taken late Sunday night from his home to St. Joseph’s Hos­ pital, London, with severe scalds about the back. The child is reported to have fallen into a tub of hot water. His injury, although painful, was not believed to be immediately serious, hospital authorities reported.—Exeter Times-Advocate. Presented to Queen Mary Arnold Turnbull, son of Mrs. Turnbull, Seaforth, who for a ber of years has been secretary for Great Britain of the Imperial Life As­ surance Company, with headquarters in London, England, had the honor recently of being presented to Pier Majesty Queen Mary. Mrs, Daniel Geddes Died At Mount Forest The remains of Mrs. Daniel Ged, des, highly-respected resident of Lucknow who died in Mt, Forest, were laid to rest in Greenwood Cem­ etery Friday afternoon, There was a service at the Presbyterian church of winch Mrs. Geddes was a beloved member, She was in her 69th year.
