Institute to Meet Oct. 13th
The Gorrie Branch of the Women’s
Institute will meet at the home of
Miss Nellie Dinsmore on Wednesday,
Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. sharp. The guest
speaker for the meeting will be Dr.
Campbell, of Wroxeter. The roll call
—“What to do in case of an emerg
ency” The program also calls for an
exhibit of Health Posters. Visitors
welcome.

Mrs. Robert Harrison has the sym
pathy of her frieiids in the death of
her father, Mr. Douglas, of Moles-
worth, who passed away at his home
on Thursday last. The funeral was
held on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Forsythe also
Mr., and Mrs. Andrew Bell of Kippen
were Guests of the Misses Murray
on Saturday.
Rev. and Mrs. Fydel motored to
Brampton on Tuesday. Miss Jean ac

OPENING MEETING
Officers Elected for Ensuing Year
The opening meeting of the Angli
can Young People’s Association was
held at the home of Mr, and Mrs. C.
Lawrence, Gorrie, ort Wednesday ev

elected for the ensuing year.
Following the opening hymn and
prayer, Scripture lesson was read, af
ter which election’ of the following
officers took place:

Spelling” after which Rev. O’Neil
read some interesting events of 6re-
cent date at Fort Norman, and also
an inspiring letter written b"y the
Bishop of Athabasca,

’ WESTERN RELIEF
Arrangements have been com plet”
ed fbr the sending of two cars to the
drought stricken West from Howick
with potatoes, turnips and all veget
ables, such an exceptionally good
crop this year it should not be hard
for all Howick to fill, these two cars
to the top. Shall we each do our part
to help our neighbors? Plans are to
have the car at Wroxeter, Gorrie and
Fordwich on Oct; 18, 19 and 20.

Dr. M. T.Macfarland Addresses
Ladies.
■ Mrs. George Allen opened her
home on Thursday afternoon of last
week to the members of the W.M.S.
and the Associate Helpers. The guest
speaker for this occasion was Mrs.
Allen’s son-in-law,. Dr. M. T. Mac
farland, of Cold Lake, Alta., who is
a medical missionary there, and ■ who
gave a most interesting talk on his
work. During the meeting Mrs. G.
Allen favored with a vocal solo, ac
companied at the piano by her dau
ghter, Mrs. Macfarland.

The autumn Thank-Offering of the
United Church W.M.S. will be held
