Miss Mary Weir, R.N., who has been visiting here during her holidays at the home of her mother,, Mrs. Dav- idson, is returning- this week to her work in the hospital at Albany, N.Y. Mr. James Weir, of London, also spent the week-end with his. mother, Mrs. Davidson. . Mr. Lawrence Henderson has re­ turned from working at Tilsonburg. Mr. and Mrs. John Gillespie, Mr. and Mrs. Gibson Gillespid, Agnes and Jack, spent Sunday with Mr.*’ and Mrs. Chas. Gillespie of New Sareth and while on the way had the* pleas- ■ . sure of seeing the farm home of Pre- - ?^ier and Mrs. Hepburn," i Mr. Bert Reed, who, has been working on Prince Edward Island during the summer, has returned to his home here. Mr. and Mrs. A, J, Martin of Tor­ onto spent the week-end with Mrs. Fosc, Mr. Thos. Phillips of St- Helens passed away after a short illness at his home last week. This was the first break in the family of seven child­ ren of the late Mr, and Mrs, Ezekial Phillips, who lived at old Fordyce. Mr. Phillips was in life 77th year. Be­ sides his wife, formerly Margaret Durnjn, he leaves to mourn him, two sons, Herman of Ashfield, and Dur- nin, clerk of W. Wawanosh, and one daughter, Myrtle, at home; also nine grandchildren; two brothers, Ezekial of Auburn, and John, of Yellowgrass, Sask., and foru sister's, Mrs. 'John Stein of Regina, Mrs. A. Fox, White­ church, Mrs. Will Humphrey of St. Helens, and Mrs. Alfred Tebbutt, of Goderich. He was buried in Green­ hill Cemetery on Thursday. Many old friends in this district will extend sympathy to the bereaved family. Rev. H. M. Wright of St. Helens had charge of the services. Mrs. Bey^ of Riverhurst, Sa?k,, is here visiting at the home of her bro­ thers, Messrs, James and^ Charles Martin, and with other relatives while her husband made a business trip in­ to the Peace River District. Mr. George Garton, Sr., who has been visiting for the past three weeks at Leamington with his son, Mr. W. Garton, returned home 'on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Garton and son. * Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Patterson of Auburn, spent a^ few days last week at the home of "their daughter, Mrs. Clarence Cox. Rev. Robt. Barbour, of Toronto, spent the week-end with his brother, Mr. Wm. Barbour. Mrs. Robt". Bar­ bour and her brother, Mr. Alec. And­ erson, are visiting at their old home in W. Wawanosh. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Vincent and family, of Westfield, spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. McBrien. The W.M.S. ladies from the churches in the surrounding district spent an interesting afternoon last Thursday at Chalmers Church, when that Society celebrated the 75th an­ niversary of its origin. After a splen­ did program, all repaired to the base­ ment, where the local society served tea to seventy-five guests. Mrs. R. T. Phillips, of Goderich, and Mrs. Jas. Irwin, of Toronto, spent last week with Mrs. W. R. Far­ rier, and on Monday Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Farrier motored to Palmers­ ton and are visiting with friends there. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Robinson and Frances, of Wingham, with Mr. Fo­ thergill, visited with Mr. and Mrs, J, D." Beecroft on Sunday, DONNYBROOK The Women’s Institute will meet on Wed-,. The anniversary services of Don­ nybrook United Church which were held on Sunday were well attended. Rev. Mr. Tucker of Lucknow preach­ ed at both services, Rev. H. C. Wil­ son, pastor of the church, assisted at the afternoon service, The splendid numbers by the Belgrave Choir were highly appreciated and added much to the success of the services. Mr. Wm.
