Mr. Mjlton Watson spent the week-end with hi$ sons, Messrs. Jas.' and Keith Watson, in Fergus, also a cousin in Guelph. Mrs, W. C, King spent last week With Miss Clara King in Toronto. Mr. Jas. Douglas, and Mrs, Ewart Whitfield visited j with Harriston friends on Saturday. Mr. Jack Young, of Detroit, has spent the past two weeks with his brother, Mr, William Young, at Or­ angeville. Mr. and Mrs, George Foster visited with Teeswater friends on Sunday. Mrs. Harold Cockburn, of Guelph, spent a couple of days last week with her sister, Mrs, Victor Shera and Mr. Shera. , Mr. Carl Newton of Toronto spent the week-end with relatives here, Mr. Percy Colmer and Miss Clara King, of Toronto, spent the week­ end with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs, Ernest King, Mr, and Mrs, George King, also Mr. and Mrs. Victor Shera spent Wednesday with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Ellis, in Guelph. Miss Hazel Hamilton, of Edmon­ ton, Alta., is visiting her sister, Mrs. L. F. Ashton, and Mr, Ashton. Mr. Alex. Edgar, of Galt, also Mr. and Mrs. D. J, Cooper, of Las Anim­ as, Colo., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Edgar. Mrs. Sheldon Bricker and Jack of Fordwich, spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs, Walter Simson. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Earl, Laura and Reita, of Ethel,, spent a short time in Gorrie on Tuesday last. Mr. R. S. Master Reggie Taylor has return­ ed home after spending the past two months with relatives in Kitchener and Stouffville. iMr. Alex. Livingston, of Toronto, was a week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Wassman of Walkerville, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Stafford, a couple of days last week1. * Cage of Infantile Paralysis Bittle Edith Hastie, four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mr& Kenneth Hastie, is suffering front an attack of infantile paralysis, Their family physician gave the serum on Monday night and we trust it will have check­ ed the deadly disease. This, so far, is the only case in the community, for this reason, the Gorrie Women’s Institute have cancelled their regular meeting to be held today (Wednes­ day). W.M.S. Had Fine Meeting Gorrie Women’s Missionary Soc-, iety held their regular meeting on Thursday, Sept. 2nd, in the Sunday School room with an attendance of 9. The President, (Mrs. Robt. Ashton, took charge throughout. The topic was “The Unchanging Christ” and the theme “Jesus Christ Is The Same Yesterday, Today and Evermore,” Hymn, “Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts” was sung. Mrs. Wm. Whit­ field then conducted the prayer per­ iod by alternate devotional readings and the singing of the hymn “Jesus Calls Us,” and closing with prayer. Mrs..W, W. Strong read a leaflet on "The Living Christ” emphasizing that Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and evermore. Mrs. R. Ashton conducted a ques- tionaire taken from the Blue Book and the three sections were respond­ ed to by Mrs. Wylie, Mrs. Whitley and Mrs. R. Carson. The society de­ cided tp use the study book entitled "The New Church”. Mrs. Wylie re­ ported as Herald and Mrs. A. Edgar for: Christian Stewardship also Tem­ perance Secretary Mrs. Simson read a short paper. Plans were discussed regarding the Autumn Thank-Offer­ ing meeting to be held in October. Missionaries for our special prayer for the month, Miss Sparling and Miss Wellwood, who are both in China. The Roll Call was responded to ,by a thought on “Love”, ing closed with prayer. WROXETER Meet- Mr. and Mrs. Bert Cook left week on a few weeks’ vacation which they will spend with friends in Cali­ fornia. In their absence Mr. Stewart will be the relieving agent at the C. P. R. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Wells and dau­ ghter, Jean, of Toronto, were week­ end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Wearring. ,Mr. and Mrs. Gavin Davidson, of Oshawa; are spending a few days with friends here, and Miss Mae Davidson, who has been their guest in Oshawa, has returned to her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baker of Tor­ onto, spent a few days last week at the home of the latter's brother, Mr. J. H. and Mrs.. Wylie. Dr. W. A. and Mrs. Spence, Tor­ onto, spent a few days recently with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R, J. Rann. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Rann and family, of Brussels, were also Sunday visitors at the ‘same home. Miss Margaret White of Howick visited last week with her friends, tMisses Lucille and Maxine White. Messrs. T. G. Hemphill, J. N. Al­ len and J. J. Allen spent the week­ end on a motor trip to the mining fields of Northern Ontario. Dr. John Munro of Copper Cliff is visiting with his mother, Mrs. Janet Munro, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Munro. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. North and daughter, Beverly, of ’London, were week-end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stocks. Mr. and Mrs, Harry Smith, son and daughter, of Strathroy, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Smith and other friends here. Miss Dorothy Edwards of Gorrie and Miss Doris McAllister of Grey Spent a few days last week with Miss Jean Sangster. Miss Kathleen Durst spent last week with friends in Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Hembly and fam­ ily are at present on vacation. Mr. Harry Waller spent a few days last week iti Toronto. School did not open here last week due to the precautionary measures being taken to prevent the spread of infantile paralysis. Sunday Schools in both churches are also remaining closed for two weeks. Harvest Thanksgiving Service will je held in St. James Anglican Church here on Sunday evening next, when the service will be conducted by Rev, W. Gibson, of Harriston. Mr. Wm. S.
