This was the only innings that the Indians drove any runs across but they sure went to town in a big way. Six runs crossed the plate to put the Hurons two up. Up to that inning the Hurons were held right down and Hanover had collected four runs, two in the first and one in each, the sec ond and third. It was a great game for the Hurons to win and “Bob” Groves’ homer was sure a million dol lar hit as the bases were loaded. Dor an followed him with a circuit clout and Murray Rae, next man up, had one headed for Art Wilson's house when it hit a branch of the tree and he was held at first. Hanover started off by bagging two in the fiirst inning. Brown whanged a double and Ellis followed suit to score Brown. Willoughby went out, W. Tiffin to brother Joe, advancing Ellis to third. Magwood singled, El lis scoring. Magwood stole second. Kruger fanned, and H. Wendorf went out, Tiffin Bros; doing the trick. Hanover tacked another up on the score board in the second. McCarty singled. V. Wendorf out, Chalmers to Tiffin. Weiler met the same fate. Brown safe on J. Tiffin’s error and McCarty scored. Ellis flied out to Groves. Another run in the third put Han over four up. Willoughby out W. Tif fin to J. Tiffin. Magwood then hit a homer over the centre-field fence. Peterson took the' mound at this point. Kruger walked, but Pete got him -with a toss to first. H. Wendorf fanned. Hanover four up. Pete pitch ed masterful ball and Hanover were held scoreless for the rest of the game. The Indians did not come to life until the seventh, then they grabbed off six runs. Mellor singled to start the innings with his third hit of the day. Gray hit for two bases, Mellor scoring. T. Tiffin safe on a fielder’s choice but Gray was caught between second and third. Peterson singled. W. Tiffin filed oiit to right fiield. K. Somers singled and the bases were loaded, with two out. McCarty went to right field and Thompson took the mound, but this did not ditch “Bob” Graves who drove the ball over the centre-field fence for a home run. What a hit and what a„ place,, tp get it Wingham now up 5-4.. Doran was; next batter ancf .he^wajtoped apothpr homer to make it 6-5*, jMpCartyxamg tack to pitch apd .Thojnpson xwerit to right pasture . Murray .Ra.e ,.h|t, ane that was labelled home-run, but it was stopped by the branch of a tree, and he was held at first. The Owen Sound kids played a good brand of ball to make the Ind’ ians bite the dust to the tune of 5-2, Garvey pitched a steady game for the Sounders. Chalmers pitched good ball but a couple of plays were gummed up that helped the boys from Grey. Fleming banged a homer with Mc Nabb on the paths. It was a tough break as he had fouled about ten balls before that. The Indians lacked pep. They arrived just in time to get into the game, which may have had some thing to do with it. However, any team that underrates these Owen Sound lads had better watch out. In their half of the first the Owen Sound gang grabbed two runs. Hare flied out to Rae. McNabb singled, and Fleming banged a homer. Stanley was safe on Mellor’s error but Riper and Garvey were thrown out at first by Chalmers arid Tiffin. The Indians got their first run in the fourth. Groves was safe on Stan ley’s error. Doran fanned, the catch er dropped the ball and Groves made second. Dpran out at first. Rae sing led, scoring Groves. Mellor safe at first on Bloomfield’s error. Rae made third but Mellor was caught at sec ond. Gray flied out to right field. The Sounders got one right back in their half of the same innings.' Pip er flied out to Gray. Garvey beat out a bunt and stole second. McLaughlin singled scoring Garvey. McLaughlin out, Doran to Tiffin trying to make second. Bloomfield flied out to Rae. The Tribe got their only other run in the fifth. Gurney safe on Stanley’s error, making second on. the over throw. Tiffin popped, to Garvey, but Somers singled, scoring Gurney. .Owen Sound scored two more in the seventh. McLaughiln was out when Tiffin speared his drive. Bloom field singled and Sutton beat out a bunt. Hare out at first but the run ners advanced. McNabb singled and two more runs crossed the plate.
