Soft Molasses Cookies 1 cup molasses 1 cup strong coffee 1 tablespoon ginger 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup shortening 1 teaspoon baking soda Pinch salt Mix shortening with molasses, sug­ ar and soda which has been dissolved in 1 tablespoon boiling water. Add spices and stir well. Pour over boil­ ing coffee and add flour to make stiff • dough. Roll out % inch thick. Cut with large round cutter. Bake 15 minutes in moderate oven. Serve hot, Acadian Brown Bread cups water cups oatmeal cup cornmeal cup molasses 3 2 1 2 cups graham flour 7 cups whole wheat flour Pinch of salt Scald water and oatmeal together.
