In fact Pete should have had a shut-out, an error with two out in the 4th giving Sun derland Its only run. The visitors failed to get a hit off Pete in the last four frames, a truly fine pitch ing performance. However, Pete was accorded wond erful support from his mates, all ex cept Bob Thompson. The likeable Lucknow boy had a bad day with three errors and a low throw on which Joe Tiffin drew the error. Bob is still a valued member of the team however, and will doubtless make up for Saturday’s lapse from grace. Bill Tiffin and Mellor both were great, the former especially, Tuddy handled ten chances faultlessly and well de served the generous applause award; ed him. Besides fielding well, Mellor also had a pair of timely blows and scored the Hurons’ first run, Somers driving him in with a single after Fred had singled and taken second on Peterson’s sacrifice. The winning run was a nip and tuck affair. Somers opened the last of the tenth with a smash through the box and out into centre field. J’unkin then cut loose with a wild pitch, Somers moving to second. Doran popped to second but Carmichael hit one just inside the third-base bag for a hit, Somers being held to third. On the first pitch Mike set sail for sec ond and McGill tried for the runner. Somers broke for‘the plate and just made it, the return throw being a lit tle off to help matters considerably, * * * Woodstock eliminated Delhi , on Saturday, so it looks as if the win ner of the Wingham-Sunderland set- to will travel to the Oxford, town. Of the possible finalists, the Hurons have had by far the hardest row to hoe, having to play Clinton, Petrolia and Sunderland, all good teams.' Sun derland had just one previous round and Delhi was Woodstock’s first ven ture out of their group. However, the Tribe have had a lot of fun and are well satisfied with things as they are. . Just about everything that could happen in a bail-game occurred in one-or-other of the three games. What a lot of fun and excitement the boys had! * * * This Sunderland series looks as if it will be just as good if not better than the former series. Very few bet ter-played games of amateur ball will be seen anywhere than Saturday’s NOTICE TO CREDITORS CARD OF THANKS tired him. Groves forced Tiffin, Johnston unassisted. No runs, 1 hit, 1 error. .
