were creditably done by all the pu
pils, with the commands being given ,
by Inspector E. C. Beacom, '
Here too, later, the weed naming, j
spelling and mental arithmetic com- i
petitions were keenly contested and i
the other contests and live stock

In the adjoining church shed the
exhibits were on display with large

In the evening the fair was brought
to a close when the public speaking

held in the church shed. Rev. H. M.
Wright was chairman for this inter
esting program, which was intersper
sed with musical numbers from the
various school sections. Inspector E.
C. Beac.mr, ILA., and Gurdon S. Mc
Intyre, B.A., of Lucknow, were judg
es for the competitions.
The chairman’s remarks were fol-
lowed by a selection otV the bag pipes
by Wilfred McQuillin after which In
spector Beacom gave a short address.
This was followed by the recitation
competition, with Billy Stewart win
ning first place with “‘Tain’t nothing
to laugh at.” Jean Wellwood, who
chose as her subject "King Edward
VIII”, led in the public speaking con
test, while Clifford Farrier with his
