SIN CE 1950 MAGIC OF MAGI
Believed to have occult
powers, the Wise Men were
called Magi, the root of our
words magic and magician.
Magi were held to be
magicians or soothsayers.
They were also ancient
priests who travelled far
away to many lands in order
to establish a following,
Many people cannot look for-
ward to happy reunions with
their families at Christmas.
These are the inmates of
prisons, the elderly in nursing
homes, the sick in hospitals and
other institutions which The
Salvation Army visits every
Christmas to make sure that
those who are so often forgot-
ten, are remembered on this
special day.
For well over 90 Christmases
now The Salvation Army has
been bringing little gifts and
the warmth of friendship into
hospitals, prisons, old people's
homes, into the "dark corners"
of life. The Army of the helping
hand tries to fill that December
25 date with the true meaning
of Christmas for everyone.
Giving is part of the Christ-
mas spirit. That's why The
Salvation Army gladly gives its
time to .make this holy season
more meaningful to those in
need. The homeless one the
unwanted one ... the shut-ins
the prisoner and yes, even
the families of those incar-
cerated. Many others, too, are
greatly helped because
Salvationists everywhere sense
the needs of the less fortunate
in many communities, and do
something about it.
