The Tuckersmith Group 1 of
Brucefield United Church
UCW held their last meeting
for 1974 on Thursday Decem-
ber 12 with an attendance of 20
and two visitors,
A delicious pot-luck dinner
was served at 7 p.m, by the
members.
Following the meal, the
regular meeting, under the
leadership of Mrs. Walters and
Mrs. Stoll, was held, Mrs,
Walters read a Christmas poem
and a carol was sung with Mrs.
William Rogerson at the piano,
Mrs. Stoll read the scripture
and another carol was sung.
Mrs. Stoll spoke on ChristMas
happiress on Jesus birthday,
and, that was followed by
prayer.
The offering was received
and dedicated and Mrs.
Walters read another Christ-
mas poem and closed the wor-
ship with prayer.
The business meeting was
chaired by the president and
the secretary's report was given
by Mrs. Ervin Sillery and the
treasurer's report by Mrs.
Berry, who reported that over
$1,000 had been raised by the
group in 1974.
Mrs. Broadfoot reported that
cards and flowers had been
sent to Mrs. Caldwell, Mrs.
Hendeimn, and Mrs, Wilbur
Keys. It was decided to hold
the winter meetings in the af-
ternoon.
The members were sorry to
learn that their most faithful
president has resigned because
of personal reasons.
A program consisting of con-
tests and games was conducted
by the ladies and Mrs. M.
Allan. Santa Claus arrived
with gifts for all.
Mrs. H. McNaughton
thanked Mrs. Walters for her
fine leadership.
Christmas Assembly
Mrs, Livermore's grade one
class presented a Christmas
Assembly,for their parents and
the rest of the school on Thur-
sday morning, December 12.
The program included
numerous Christmas songs and
a skit about a Christmas tree.
Several pupils spelled Christ-
mas giving a meaning for the
letter on his or her bright red
bell and Robbie Adams gave a
recitation telling about his
Christmas Disappointment.
The assembly ended with a
play entitled Christmas
Bargains.
'The assembly was well
received by the audience and
everyone seemed to appreciate
the efforts of the primary
pupils.
Visit with
'Sandy Plant
At noon hour on a recent
Friday, the girls from the grade
eight class travelled with their
teacher, Mr. Tremeer, to the
home of Sandy Plant,
Sandy, who is registrated in
the grade eight class, has an
illness that has kept her out of
school for the last three months
and it still is not known when
she will be strong enough to
return to xegular classes, Sandy
has been receiving home in-
struction for an hour or more
each school day throughout the
term to keep her up to date
with most of her school week.
Of course Sandy and the
other grade eight girls enjoyed
their short visit and they all
are looking forward to the time
when Sandy will be able to
return to the classroom.
Bullets happenings
News of Bayfield

Ladles Guild
The December meeting of the
Trinity Church Ladies Guild
was held Tuesday evening, Dec.
10 in the Parish Hall, with 12
members present.
The president, Mrs. R. Roy
Fitzsimons, , opened with a
reading and a beautiful Christ-
mas prayer. Mrs. Bill Parker
gave a reading on "The True
Meaning of Christmas" and all
the members repeated the
Lord's Prayer in unison.
Mrs. Fitzsimons thanked all
who had helped with their
Bazaar and also the ladies who
had worked on the velvet guilt
and finished it. The secretary,
Mrs. L.W. Scotchmer, gave her
report which was adopted.
Many cards of thanks were
read and moved for filing. Mrs.
Fred Hulls, card and flower
secretary, reported on the get
well cards,and flowers that had
been sent to the sick and shut-
ins.
Treasurer, Mrs. Merton Mer-
ner, read her report and said
they had paid for , one
aluminum storm door and the
kitchen windows in the Parish
Hall. The ladies had a very suc-
cessful bazaar and passed that
all outstanding bills be paid
before the end of the year.
The Sunday School party
will be held on Sunday, Dec. 22
from 2 to 4 p.m. sponsored by
the Guild, and several members
paid their birthday money. Of-
ficers for 1974 were all retur-
ned for 1975.
The January meeting will be
held in the Parish Hall on
Tuesday evening, Jan. 14. The
' meeting was closed by the Rec-
tor and a pot-luck luncheon of
sandwiches, cookies and a cup
of tea made a pleasant hour of
friendship.
Lions Bingo
Friday evening, Dec. 13, the
Bayfield Lions Club held their
Annual Turkey Feather Bingo
in the Community Centre and
reported a successful event.
Lucky turkey winners were,
Mrs. Grace O'Hara, Marilyn
Haw, Bob O'Hara, Fred
Telford' (2), Mattie Francis,
Denise Orr (3), Mrs, John Wild,
Berthena Hammond, Lena
Koene, Crystal Huffman, Lena
Ervine all of Bayfield; Edna
Elliott, Barb Chapman, Mrs.
Stan Telford, Joyce Baechler,
(2) all of Goderich, and Mary
Boyce of Vanastra.
Share-the-wealth games were
won by Mrs. Elliott, Goderich
($20); Bob O'Hara, Bayfield
($20); Tiny Bedard, Goderich
and Marg Talbot, Bayfield split
and won $11 each and Mrs.
Marion Castle, Clinton and
Mrs. Ernie Fisher, Goderich
split and each received $12.50.
Cubs
Last Thursday evening, the
parents of the Cubs of 1st
Bayfield Pack were invited to
attend the investiture of seven
boys into the Pack. Cub Leader
Allan Yates assisted by Carol
Fisher invested John Garrett,
• Richard Grillmayer, Shawn
Carrick, Leonard Healey,
David Phoenix, Michael Clark
and Bobby Dunn and presented
them with their ties and
Woggles aftew the 'boys 'thad''
repeated the Cub Law and
Promise.
Several games were enjoyed
by all the cubs with the fathers
participating. Akela Yates then
named the Sixers of each six,
Larry Taman (white), Robbie
Siertsema (red), Gary Samway
(blue) and Seconders, Rick
Johnston (white), Andrew
Bulien (red) and Robbie Chap-
man (blue). These boys are
responsible for the neatness
and conduct of their individual
Six and in the event that a
Sixer is not able to be present
the Seconder then takes over.
Along with Akela Yates and
Mrs. Fisher, Rick Penhale and
James Armstrong assist with
the Cub Pack.
John Siertsema and Don
Couper are busy conducting a
Scout meeting while the Cub
meeting goes on and in conver-
sation with Mr. Siertsema we
learned that they would
welcome to their Scout Troop,
any boys aged 12 to 14 years.
They also meet on Thursday
evening from 7, to 8:30 p.m. in
the Municipal Building.
Akela announced that the
Cubs and Scouts are planning a
carol sing, Friday evening,
Dec.20 starting at 6:30 p.m.
when they will ride around the
Village on a sleigh singing
Carols to the shut-ins and
elderly. Following the singing
they will meet at the Siertsema
home for a party and gift ex.

visited with relatives in Mit-

nbrough who is able to come
home after being in Clinton
Public Hospital.

visited with the former's sister,
Mrs. Milton Pollock, Goshen
Line on Thursday.
Mr. Bernard F. Sturgeon,
Orangeville was with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack B.
Sturgeon on Monday while on
a business trip to the Sarnia
area.
Mrs. Jack Sturgeon and Mrs.
Walter Erickson enjoyed a
day's shopping trip to London
on Friday and also visited the
latter's sister, Mrs. Gordon
(Norma) Stewart who is a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital
and the former's great nephew,
Bradley Gemeinhardt who is
also confined to St. Joseph's
Hospital.
