Pretty Soon those who read
this column will .accuse the
writer of deliberately making
errors so there will be some
firewood for next week's effort.
Such is not the, case - although
there is an apology in order
here. Last week we incorrectly
stated that Mr. W. Robert
Miller had been appointed
manager of The Royal Bank in
Stratford - this should be
corrected to read Kitchener. '
Elsewhere the paper there
are the names of _numerous
winners of lucky draws and
contests. We have one to report
here - the Clinton. Horticultural
Society draw which was held at
the junior gardeners' meeting
was, won by Paul Wettlaufer.
The prize -Was a Christmas
arrangement by Ruth Duern.

Also the winner of last
week's Bingo at the Huron Fish
and 'daine Club was Bill
Austin Of Seaforth.

How many of us could skate
for a two hour stretch on our
70th birthday? Harry Cochrane
of Mary Street did just that. On
December 11, his 70th birthday,
Mr. Cochrane skated for two
hours at the Clinton Arena.

A happy birthday and a
merry Christmas party was
held at the home of Barbara
and Alvin settles on December
15, 1974. The honoured birth-
day guest was Eph. Snell and
the Snell clan held their annual
Christmas get-together. On
behalf of gph's children, Bar-
bara presented her lihad with a
Klassen crafted weather vane.
Marguerite Snell gave Grandpa
an ornamental gate sign from
his seventeen grandchildren.
Brucie, Bradley, Beverley,
Barry and Becky Kettles looked
like five little elves carrying in
a six foot long iron post for
great-grandpa to mount his
gate sign upon. Kathleen
brought in a huge birthday
cake with 80 candles on it.
Richard presented the lighted
cake and everyone toasted the
celebrant with champagne,
The grand total of 33 well-
wishers enjoyed a delicious
turkey dinner with every trim-
ming you could imagine. Jayne
Mary and Mac Taylor and
their three children from
Dawson Creek, B.C. were
unable to attend but sent their
best wishes.

that "Smokey", the' border
collie whose sad tale we repor-
ted in last week's column has
been found, and although pad-
sore and weary is now doing
nicely under Mrs. Pullen's care. * * *
There is really no corny
humour to equal the jokes con-
tained in Christmas crackers -
like this one pulled out of a
cracker at a last night's party.
"Why is it that the girl with the
prettiest legs is-always the first
to see the mouse?".
