An honour for a former Clin-
tonian. W. Robert Miller, for-
merly with The Royal Bank of
Canada in Strathroy has been
appointed manager of that
bank's main office in Stratford.
Mr. Miller is the son of
William J. Miller, former
mayor of Clinton, and the late
Mrs. Miller. * *
Mr. Bill Hearn, president of
C.H. Epps Manufacturing Ltd„
Clinton, and Mr. Don Stewart,
vice-president, have just retur-
ned from a successful business
information trip to Britain. Mr.
Hearn tells of a London "set-
tling in" well after the recent
British election. This in spite of
the fact that bread is now a
rationed commodity and there
are queues, reminiscent of war-
time, outside the bakers' shops.

Renovating or insulating an
attic seems to be a sure way to
produce antiques of some
nature - not necessarily collec-
tors' items. Mr. Alvin Cox of
Rattenbury Street West unear-
thed or rather `unceilinged' an
empty 25 lb. paper bag, bearing
the inscription, 'Clinton Mill'
and on the bottom the name J.
& N. Fair, Clinton.

Local boy makes good. Yes,
local boy and local dog both
make good. An eleven month
old Doberman Pinscher pup
owned by Joe Lobb of Clinton
brought home honours last
weekend from the Brantford
and District Kennel Club
Show.
Shown in the Working Group
clads; gi.TreSlitt was first in
Senior, Puppy, went,
oh to ilieserve4.Withers Dog in"
the open male class. This
promising young Doberman
Pinscher was Best Canadian
Bred puppy, beating out a ten
point champion for that
honour.
And like brother almost like
sister!! Black Ebony Charm,
owned by Constable Doug Riley
of Clinton, placed third in the
Senior Puppy female class at
the same show.

PAGE 2—C1.,INTON NEWS RECORD, THURDAY, DECEMBER. 12, 1974
this week gives details concer-
ning the disappearance, a week
ago, of a predominately black
border collie, The reason for
mentioning it in this column is
because most lost dogs have an
owner. This dog's owner died
two weeks ago - up until then it
was a case of dog and man
alone with each other. The lady
who placed the ad had attemp-
ted to give the dog a home after
it was left - however, it is
thought that he has made an
attempt to return to the empty
house.
"Smokey" is eight years old
with arthritis and clearly
unable to stand the cold of win-
ter. Would anyone in the Clin-
ton district, especially in the
vicinity of the No. 8 highway
approaches either side of town,
and Vanastra, seeing this bor-
der collie please phone 482-'
7896. Mrs. Florence Pullen is
the lady with a heart as big for
this lost dog as she has for her
own dogs.
Bruce Health of the Huron County Children's Aid Society
was the guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Pro Life
Association of Goderich and District which was held in
Clinton last week. Here he talks with co-chairman Mrs.
Connie' Osborn of Goderich. (News-Record photo)

cial statement. No flowers had

and 44 home calls and 12
hospital calls had been made
on sick and shut-ins, Final
arrangements were made for
the bus trip to London on Dec.
10.

Cummings looked after the
Dutch auction. Winners were

ningham, Pearl Cummings,
