Phyllis opened the meeting with a reading "Give and Take", followed by the Creed and. Lord's Prayer in unison. The Roll Call was answered by 16 members. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. It was decided to have the Annual Supper Nov, 15th followed by a game of cards. A donation was given to 4-H club no. 2 to help with their present project. It was also decided to send the Children's Aid $25.00 to help with Christmas plans. ONTARIO MEDAL FOR GOOD CITIZENSHIP "Ali about nutrition" subject of workshop The Home Economics Branch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is spon- soring next week a Nutrition Workshop entitled "All About Nutrition", according to Miss Jane S. Pengilley,, Home Economist for Huron County. Eating nutritious foods is an important part of our daily living. Recent results of the Nutrition Canada Survey have pinpointed nutritional problems of Canadians. The all-day meeting features discussions on a wide range of topics relating to nutrition and food habits — choosing food in the supermarket, labelling, ad- ditives, food fads, Dates and places in Huron County are as follows; Huron East - Tuesday, November 5, Wroxeter Town Hall; Huron West - Wednesday, November 6, Auburn• Community Hall; Huron South - Thursday, November 7, Hensall Legion Hall. East asked .for as. many volunteers as possible to join with the Legion Branch for the combined church service on Sunday November 10, at 9;45 a,m, at the Presbyterian Church and also to come to the Remembrance Day services at the Legion on Monday, Novern, her 11th, at 9:16 a.m. Corn, Margaret Thorndike composing a history of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for the 'Clinton Centennial book, The Auxiliary will be pur- chasing a TV as a donation to Westminster Hospital in Lon, don and members were also reminded to have a prize for the bingo on November 6th. Entertains", which is designed to help club members gain confidence in the practice of simple and gracious enter- taining. The girls in each club have had the opportunity to plan and prepare refreshments for various occasions, discuss table setting and service, prac- tise flower arranging and discuss etiquette for many oc- casions. Miss Jane S. Pengilley, Home Economist for Huron County, will be conducting the following Achievement Days ,throughout the County: Volunteers from the Goderich Township Women's Institute along with a new volunteer Mrs. Hulley,-of Win- Ihrop, assisted with Monday af- ternoon's activities. Mrs, Maitland Driver and Molly Cox joined Norman Speir and Jerry Collins to provide the Old Time music for the occasion. A new resident Mrs. Grasby of Seaforth was welcomed to the Home. Mrs. Ross Hoggarth of Bluevale arranged the Family Night program with talent from the surrounding area. Clark Johnston sang several Irish and Scottish numbers and Patricia Hoggarth played two piano solos, Mr. Percy Vincent, a' former resident of Bluevale thanked the entertainers on behalf of the residents. There will be some changes , in the next couple of weeks in the Family Night programs. Hallowe'en being on a Thur- sday a party is planned in the afternoon which will replace the regular Family Night Program.,On the first week of November the Family Night Program is being held on Wed- nesday, November 6 at 7 p.m. ladies' will carry on this winter, with Marg Ball and Ruth Jenkins as phone committee. The November meeting will be at Gladys Van Egmond's home. Roll call to be, "Bring something for an auction sale." Lunch and program committee are Ali Westerhout, Sandra Westerhout and Marg Wright. The Raffle was won by Laura Forbes. The program consisted of a contest by Hazel Watkins won by Marg Wright. Sue Vod- den gave a reading, "Farmers' Plight", also a contest won by Phyllis Tyndall. Wendy Tyn- dall played several piano selec- tions for Jean Vodden. Lunch was served. Brucefield BY BERRY Elgin Thomson received word that his brother Sydney Thomson, Stratford suffered a severe heart attack,. }- Mr. Wesley am, Huntsville visited on the w ekend with his mother Mrs. A. Ham and aunt, Miss M.E. Swan. Mr. and Mrs Wm. Pepper spent the Thanksgiving weekend at Bracebridge. Mr. and Mrs.\ J. Marshall, Listowel, Mr. and Mrs. Aldin Smith visited on Sunday with Mrs. V. Berry. ANNIVERSARY SERVICE Brucefield anniversary ser- vices will be held on Sunday Oct. 27 at 11 a,m. and 7:30 p.m. Special music by the choir assisted by the Hurina's Men, Exeter and the McMillan Family, Goderich. In the evening many attended the "Nature Walk", on Sunday by the Ausable Conservation Group. On August. 17, 1974, Henry Van Stralen and Janet Otten were married in Christ's love in a beautiful late summer wed- ding in the Clinton Christian Reformed Church. Janet is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Boven of Seaforth and Henry is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Dirk Van Stralen of Acton, Ontario. Officiating at the double-ring ceremony was the Rev. John Van Til, who is the campus minister of the Christian Refor- med Church at the University of Western Ontario in London. Music for the wedding con- sisted of "Theme from Romeo & Juliet" for the bridesmaids' processional and "Trumpet and Organ processional by Pur- cell"., "0 Perfect Love" and "Blest the Man", were hymns sung by the guests and "A New Commandment" was the doxology. Fred Van Stralen and his wife from Woodbridge, Ontario sang "The Wedding Song" during the signing of the register. The organist was Mr. Ralph Thorn of London and CLINTON II 4-H BY YVONNE LAZET The fifth meeting was held October 21st at Mrs. Howes' at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was opened with the pledge and roll call. For roll call we had to ex- change material for reference file, but nobody, had anything to exchange. Next the minutes of the previous. meeting were read by the secretary, Irene Guetter. Judy and Susan came up with ideas for our book cover. We voted for Judy Tiesma's. We discussed Party Ideas. Mr. George Prins of Dunnville accompanied on the trumpet. Maid of Honor was ,Miss Anne Jonkman of London, friend of bride and groom. Bridesmaid was Mrs. Joyce Kot of Oshawa, sister of the groom., Flower girls were Mar- jan and Femmigje Stienbergen of Beverwijk, Holland, cousins of the bride. Charlie Doornbos of Guelph was the, groom's best man and the groomsman was John Van Stralen from British Columbia. Ushers were Wayne Gort and Ralph Otten. After the ceremony a buffet dinner and reception were held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Clinton. Approximately 170 guests at- tended from Holland, Kamloops, B.C., Grand Rapids, Mich., Toronto, Montreal, Guelph, Hamilton, Burlington, Oshawa, London, Oakville, Listowel, Stratford, Wingham, Clinton, Seaforth and surroun, ding areas. The Van Stralen's are living in Burlington. First we had to list the items which are important for plan- ning a party, second we had to think up party themes. Third we had to write an answer to an invitation. Fourth we had to think of decorations for our party theme. Fifth we had to list the important factors in planning games. And sixth we had to state what is most im- portant when You are the hostess or a guest. The Meeting was adjourned by Judy Tiesma the president. The next meeting will be held at Mrs. Howes on October 28th at 7:30. report of her attendance at the Guide meeting. The next card party will be held in the Legion Lounge on November 15 at 9 p,m, and all are invited to bring a friend or partner and a sandwich, The share-the-wealth was won by Corn. Jean Walker, the attendance draw by Corn, Dot McLean and the next meeting will be held on November 13. Don't forget the Remembrance Dance on November 11th. -by Dot McLean. The late Mr. Pfaff was an employee of Bendo Real Estate, formerly employed with CKLW radio, Windsor, as a program director and announ- cer. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. He was past president of First Lutheran Church, past Choir Director of Peace Lutheran Church and at the time of his passing was the Choir Director of GethseMane Lutheran, Many of the Village residents will remember Mr. Pfaff as for several years they have made their summer home in Hayfield on Victoria Place.
