An invitation is being exten-
ded by the Ausable-Bayfield
Conservation Authority to all
those who are interested in
nature study, hiking, wildlife,
and conservation td participate
in a guided nature hike on Sun-
day, October 20, in one of the
Authority's newest and most
scenic conservation areas.
Known as the Bannockburn
Wildlife Area because of its
location on the Bannockburn
River as well as its unique
beauty, abundant wildlife and
proposed management plans,
the- area has been the site of
much activity this summer. The
Authority would like area
residents to come out and enjoy
the autumn natural 'beauty of
the site, and see what has been
accomplished as well as what is
planned for the"future.

Stanley Township sideroad 2
1/2 miles west of Brucefield
and 1 mile north of the
Brucefield Bayfield Road.
Hikers will cross the three
new bridges built by SWEEP
students this summer; see wood
duck nesting boxes; follow a
trail through a cedar bush, up
the valley slope through a
mixed hardwood forest, along
open, rolling grasslands, and
back down and along the river,
while nature's wonders are
pointed out, and future wildlife
habitat management plans are
outlined.
Coffee and hot chocolate will
be served following the hike so
bring the family, dress warmly
(including boots), and join us
for an enjoyable afternoon

Mrs, Ed Deeves gave the
card report and several mem-
bers reported they had visited
with Mrs. Stewart Middleton
who is a patient in Victoria
Hospital, London.
Highlight of the evening' was
when Mrs. Storey introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs. A. Bar-
nett - during the war the Bar-
netts were stationed at Clinton
and upon their retirement they
built a new home in Goderich.
They. have travelled a great
deal since their retirement and
have spent several winters in
Mexico. Her pictures took the
audience from the Yukon to
Washington; Florida, the Rose
Bowl Parade in Pasadena,
Calif., Bahamas, and Nassau.
She concluded with pictures
from our own parish Centen-
nial celebrations and picnics
which were greatly enjoyed.
Mrs. Barnett was thanked on
behalf of the A.C.W. by Mrs.
Don Middleton.
Mr. Youmatoff closed the
meeting with prayer and Mrs.
Heitbohmer assisted the
hostess Mrs. Wise with lunch.
On Thanksgiving weekend
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Miller en-
joyed a trip to Nashville, Tenn.,
and attended the Grand 01'
Opry Saturday night.
