(News- Record photo) The Tigers are tops in the Londesboro Men's League with 16 points, and are followed by the Lions with 14, the Leopards with 7, and the Cheetahs with 5. Joe Hunking had the high single of 272, Cliff Saundercock had the high triple of 690, and Jack Lee had the high average of 225. Bob Thompson was the most improved bowler with a plus 22. Last Wednesday night the 'Wangs played an excellent game but lost 5-1 to the Strat- ford Warriors of the Western Junior "B" league, Dennis Flanagan scored three times for the Warriors while Terry In league play sat the weekend, the Clinton Soccer Club travelled to Exeter and defeated them 3-0, to keep Clin- ton in second place in the league standings with an out- side chance of still ending up in top spot. This game was expected to be a walk-over for Clinton since the last time these two teams met ended with a 12-0 score. However, although Clinton had 99 per cent of the play, the forwards could .not get the ball past Exeter's goalkeeper. Senior Football Last Thursday on the Red- men's 'home field, Central Huron downed Listowel Lords by the score of 25-0. Touch- downs for the Seniors were scored by Gerald Cantelon, Brian Murray, Doug Murray, and Gerry Lobb. The Redmen, quarterbacked by Robin McAdam, amassed 402 yards in total offense. Brian Murral led all ground gainers with 159 yards in 10 carries, 88 of those yards in the first quarter. Gerald Cantelon , scored the Redmen's first six points on a 20 yard run around the left end. Brian Murray made it 12- 0 as he swept around the right end for a 25 yard TD. The Red- men's third touchdown came on a reverse by Doug Murray from five yards out. The, Redmen defensive unit played an out- standing game as they held Listowel from scoring. The Redmen's record is now 2-1 in league play. Their next game is Thursday (Today) against the GDCI Vikings in Goderich. Junior Football Last Thursday, the Junior Redmen defeated the Listowel Lords 21-0. They were led by touchdowns by ,Steve Jones, Steve Campbell, and Ray Wheeler. The defensive unit also played well with three in- terceptions as highlights. Inter- ceptions went to Paul VanDamme -two, and Dave Bird -one. The Redmen's record is two wins and one loss. Next game is today, at Goderich against the undefeated Vikings. Junior Volleyball C.H.S.S. hosted a volleyball Flanagan and Peter Yaciui Picked up singles to round, out the Stratford scoring, Paul Kelly scored the lone Clinton goal set up by Blake Fisher while Brian Lane and Neil , Colqehoun missed breakaway chances, Goalten, ders Gary Yeoman, Don Bedour and Henry Olechoweki turned in good performances. Tuesday night the Petrolia Jets Junior "Jr team jumped into a early 2-0 lead before Barry had scored at 9:24 and Steve Cook tied it, up at 12:11 At times it appeared as if both teams were crowded into the Exeter penalty area, allowing our forwards no room to manoeuvre. Finally, Brian Jewitt fired a shot which went through a maze of legs and ended up in the back of the net. The score remained 1-0 for Clinton till the teams turned round at half-time. In the second half, the Clin- ton boys tried to open the game up with some fine passing plays but again and again were tournament last Friday. The Junior Redmen played three games. In an exhibition game against Exeter, the boys were. defeated. However they took a set of games from the Junior Vikings from Goderich. The juniors are coached by Mr. Ward Hodgins. Junior Girls Basketball On Thursday Oct, 3rd, the CHSS Junior Girls won a hard fought game over Seaforth by the score of 19.15. Top scorers were Nellie VanWonderen with 6 points and Susan Tyndall with five. This was the girls first win. The team is coached by Miss Birch. Senior Boys Volleyball Volleyball season is in full swing fob,. the 1974 season. The Central Huron Seniors started their ,season with an entirely 44W. d,.Tfrifirst tournament erst,.,2e in„ Wingham saw CHSS only win one game. The Seniors went down two hard fought games to Listowel, In the next set, Clinton easily defeated the Goderich Vikings in the first game. The second game turned in favour of the Vikings as CHSS lost a close game. Last Friday, Oct. 4, Central Huron hosted the second tour- nament. The Redmen easily ' handled the Exeter Panthers for two games in the first set. The second set was exibition matches against Wingham. The senior boys woe and lost a game against the Mustangs. In the final matches the boys easily defeated Goderich in both games. This week the senior boys are involved in two tournaments. On Tuesday they played in Stratford against St. Mary's and Stratford Central. Tomorrow they play ih Mit- chell in an exibition tour- nament. Tuesdays results were not ready as of press time. The seniors are coached by Mr. K. Allen. ending the .first period AL In the second period Mark Fisher and. Steve Cook pulled the 'Stangs within one goal of Petrolia but also missed several good scoring chances. Paul Kelly scored in the third period only to have Petrolia score four times to end the •game at 9-5. Petrolia's leading scorer was Cam. Ross as he scbred four 4 tirnes. Gun club results Paul Wheeler of Clinton was the top shooter at the Vanastra skeet shoot last Saturday when he hit 20 out of 25 targets. Three men were tied for second with 19 hits each. They were Bob Sherry of Stratford, Glen Moagk of Bornholm and Mery Batkin of Clinton. Ashley Gilbert of Goderich hit 17. Clinton continues to dominate the action in the Men's Inter-town League in bowling action this week. They lead the pack with 35 points, followed by Bol-Mor of Strat- ford and St. Marys with 32. Next come Mikes I of Strat- ford and Goderich with 24 each, the Valiants of Stratford with 23, Seaforth with 19, Mikes 2 of Stratford with 13, Zurich with 6, and Exeter with 4. E. Ohler of Stratford rolled the high single of 367, R. The Daffy Dolls are tops in the Clinton-131yth Ladies' League with 14 points, but are followed closely by Hoggie's Hippies and Della's Slaves with 13 each, the Striking Streakers and the Evil Knievels with 10 each, the Try- Herds and the Pin Pickers with 7 each, and the Crown Jewels with 6. In the YBC Saturday junior league, the Maple Leafs are in the lead with 29 points, followed by the Alley Wreckers . with 27 and the Hookers with 21. Since moving to Clinton, Mr, Cassidy's interest in supporting local tPanl:k has increased -en- thusiasm among players, coaches and fans, Last year he supplied financial backing for the Colt's when they were in need of sticks and other hockey equipment. The new uniforms are basically white with gold and blue trimming and patter- ned after the Buffalo Sabres "home" sweaters. At the Western Fair Raceway Monday night in the second race, Janet Express owned and driven by William German, Clinton, was out of the money. In the second race, Conray Frost owned by Charles Mathers and driven by Ray Mathers both of Goderich was fifth. El Sam 0, owned by Richard Burgess and Joe and Jim Dick and Driven by Gord Pullman all of Seaforth was fourth in the seventh race. Thursday night at London in the third race, Carry On Syl owned by Bruce Erskine and Wilfred Denomme both of Goderich was second with Ron Williamson Seaforth on the bike. In the, ninth race Miss Belle liars, owned by -Fred Fowler 4 The Colts are entered in the Ontario Hockey Association In- termediate 'C' loop this winter where they will be encountering clubs from Goderich, Seaforth, Mitchell, Milverton and port Elgin (last year's Ontario champs). The organizational meeting is set for tonight (Thurs.) in Harriston. Home games will be played on Friday and Sunday nights, Robert "Joe" Livermore has taken over the reins of the club and is very high on the club's future. -Their first test is this Sunday night (Oct. 13th) at the- Com- munity Centre when they duel and driven by Frank MacDonald was out of the money.
