Mrs, M. Batkin and Mrs. C. Elliott were appointed as delegates. Cars will leave Clinton Town Hall at 9:15 am. A Women's Institute Nutrition Workshop for West Huron will be held in Auburn Memorial Hall on November 6th. Ladies are to take a box lunch. It was also voted to pur- chase a memorial wreath to be placed at the cenotaph on Remembrance Day. Mrs. C. Elliott read an ar- ticle concerning the Adelaide Hoodless Memorial Rose which was released in 1972. A florabunda rose; it has a profusion of blooms and would be an asset to any Women's In- stitute garden. Mrs. E. Radford was in charge of the program. The motto for the meeting was "A cheerful heart is a good medicine".. Mrs. Radford in- troduced Mrs. M. Fairservice of Londsborough. She gave several poems, good cheer for any age and they showed that things are just about what we make them. Nothing at times can be more valuable than a smile or a friend. She closed with two short humorous readings, "The man that adver- tised", and "When you pay the bill". Mrs. Donald Haines of Auburn, district president, then showed pictures of a trip to the Maritimes and wild flowers of the woods, and autumn pic- tures of community interest. Mrs. M. Wiltsie read two poems of grandmother's time, "Baking bread", and "Grand- mother's ash hopper", ending the afternoon program. A penny sale will be held on October 24, the next meeting with Londesboro ladies invited to attend. Mrs. E. Kendall and her committee then served lunch. Mrs. Larry McLean at Sacred Heart Church in Ingersoll. Also attending were Master Todd McLean of Tharriesford, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Devereaux, Seaforth, Mr. and Mrs. Ray McLean and Danny, London. Following the christening a smorgasbord dinner was held at the McLean residence in Thamesford, Amber Rebekah Lodge Nable Grand Mrs. Aldeen Volland presided at the regular meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge recently and was assisted by Vice Grand Mrs. Margaret Consitt, Arrangements were finalized for the Installation of Officers on October 2 when D.D.P. Mrs. Jean Brydge of Brussels will visit the Lodge and install the officers. All members were asked to bring items for a penny sale. A letter was read from the Rebekah Assembly President, Mrs. Grace Love whose motto this year is "Let us climb to greater heights", All the Lodges are asked to support the Home at Barrie. Mrs. Irene Varna BY MRS. IVAN MCCLYMONT The Messengers group of Varna United Church will meet in the basement of the church on Sunday, October 6, for their first meeting of the season. Mr. and Mrs. D. Reid Of Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland spent a week with their grand- son, Mr. David Roy and wife and family. A bridal shower was held in Goshen United Church a week ago Tuesday night in honour of Judy McBride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert McBride, for her forthcoming marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Russell and Miss Florence Russell of Toronto and Mrs. Bert Russell of Mitchell called on Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McClymont or. Saturday. Blackwell Jr, P.N.G. was ap- pointed trustee of the Lodge. Mrs, Olga Chipchase an- nounced that tickets are available for the Grand Masters Banquet to be held in Huron Centennial School, Orucefield on October 17 at 6:30. There will be an' "Open installation" at Brussels Oc- tober 18 when all Rebakahs are invited to attend. Personal Mrs. Wilbert Dilling is a patient in South Huron Hospital Exeter, where she is receiving treatment. Brucefield Congratulations to Ronnie Taylor, who won a CCM bicycle at the Western Fair. Ronnie en- tered the ministry of transpor- tation and communication's safety contest, and his entry was picked from nearly 200,000 tickets, The Clinton Women's In- stitute's first meeting of the fall season was held on September 26th at the agriculture board rooms. The president, Mrs. C. Elliott, lead in the opening exercises and it being grand- mothers day, welcomed all visitors. The roll call was answered by "An old fashioned Custom I hate to discard", which was quite interesting. Thankyou cards were received from Mrs. Alma Lobb, Mrs. Anna Moffat, Mrs. W. Colclough and family and the family of the late Mrs. Rachel Shaddick. The Historical Committee for Clinton Centennial asked that a history be written up on Cli ton Women's Institute for recording in 1975. An in- vitation to attend Goderich W.I: on October 3rd was accep- ted . Cars are to leave the Town Hall at 1:30 pm. The Fall rally for West Huron will be held in St. Johns Anglican Church, Brussels on 4-H Club The first meeting of Hensall I 4-H Club was held at the home of Mrs. Ann Lenting on September 18. After voting, the results are as follows; president, Nancy McCurdy; secretary, Susan Stratton, treasurer, Dale Sirnmons; press correspondent, Lucy Van Esbroeck. Dues were discussed and it was decided that a $1,50 lump sum ,would be paid by each member, Title covers and names were also discussed.. Following this different flower arrangements were made. A proposal was made that the move to the Hensall United Church for the remainder of the meetings. The second meeting of Hen- sail I was held on September 24 at the United Church, President Nancy McCurdy called the role which was "why I like to entertain". Table set- tings and manners were discussed. Following this the girls set a table and had a mock meal. Home assignment for. the up coming week is to practice table settings and services. Record book and reference file must also be worked on. Next meeting will be held at the United Church. United Church Notes Dr. 'Ivan Smillie of Bur- nabee, B.C. was the guest soloist at Hensall United Church on Sunday morning. He sang two solos, accompanied by Mrs. Turkheim on the organ. Rev. Don Beck preached on the sermon topic "Seeing it through". The flowers in the church were from the Payne- Alexander wedding on Satur- day... Christening Mr. and Mrs. Ken McLean and Mr. and Mrs. John Lan- sink of Seaforth, attended the christening of Angela Marie McLean, daughter of Mr. and
