learns 'of parts
The second monthly meeting
of the Huron County 4,H Trac-
tor Club was held at
McGavin's Farm Equipment in
Walton. '
The speaker that was present
gave a very informative talk on
tractor trouble-shooting. He
also had on display some new
tractor parts.

ted when he was visiting relatives in Goderich Township, as
he ended up Sunday afternoon fighting a smouldering hay
fire in the barn of Frog Dutot of Concession 9, Here Mr. Yeo

The smorgasbord supper was

relays, contests and games were
in the charge ,of Mrs. Joe

MRS, MARY McDOWELL
Funeral services were held
on Monday, August 12 for Mrs.
Mary McDowell who passed
away in Wingham District
Hospital in her 91st year.
She was born at St, Helens
and was the daughter of Peter
Clark and Annie McKenzie,
She attended St. Helens
School, Goderich District
Collegiate and Hamilton Nor,
mal School. She taught school
Fordyde and Westfield.
In 1910 she married the late
Marvin McDowell and was a
member of Westfield United
We keep getting a shower
every so often so the crops look
much better than they have. If
only the corn cobs will grow
like the raspberries did, all
won't be lost. It would be nice
to join the travellers and go a
little farther than up and down
the rows of bushes picking big
red berries.
Anne Hayter, ,daughter of Mr,
and Mrs. Elmer Hayter of R.R,
1, Varna, graduated on August
2 from the Victoria Hospital
School of Nursing in
ceremonies held at Centennial
Hall, London. She has accep-
ted a position at the South
Waterloo Memorial Hospital,
starting this September. Anne
is a graduate of Central Huron
Secondary School in Clinton.

She is survived by two sons,
Graeine, Westfield and Harvey
of Blyth; one daughter, Mrs,
Ernest (Anna) Spell of West,
field; 12 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren; one
brother; Donald Clark of Ot-
tawa; and two sisters, Mrs,
Margaret McLennan of
Chicago and Miss Colina Clark
of Toronto. One son Ronald
died in infancy,
Rev, Garnet- Potter conduc-
ted the service at the Arthur
Funeral Home and interment
took place in Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow.
Pallbearers were John
McDowell, Donald McDowell,
Ronald Snell, Marvin Snell,
Donald Cowan and Douglas
McIntosh. Flowerbearers were
Colin Clark and' Bill Snell,
Herb and Faye Oakes en-
joyed a two week motor trip to
the West Coast. While in
Calgary they visited with
Wayne Tebbutt and friends in
nearby Cochrane and spent
some time at the Stampede.
From there they drove to the
coast, spent some time on Van-
couver Island and headed for
home. .
Coming home by the
Yellowhead Route they had a
chance to go to Klondike Days
in Edmonton and stopped at
Al Omings' Alberta Game
Farm. Smoke was still visible
from the highway from the
forest fires in the Vermillion
Bay and Dryden areas. There
were helicopters busy dumping
water on the fires.
Canada, Herb and Faye feel,
is a land of great contrast and
variety and something everyone
should t,,ry-to sees,
Sylvia Forbes spent a week at
camp recently.
Steven Lobb Was off to
hockey school again this sum-
mer.
Gerry, Shirley, Greg and
Wendy Tebbutt of St.
Catharines spent a few days
with Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Teb-
butt.
