delabra with arrangements of
snap dragon and white daisies
made a lovely setting in Lon-
desboro United Church when
Kathleen Lenore McEwing of
Londesboro exchanged wedding
vows with Charles William
Chambers of Clinton on May II,
1974. The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. James
McEwing of Londesboro and
the groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Chambers of
Shilo, Manitoba. Rev. Stanley
McDonald performed the
double-ring ceremony. Mrs.
Allan Bosman was the
organist.
Given in marriage by her
parents, the bride chose a gown
of Lagoda trimmed with venice
lace. The skirt, sleeves and
built in train were lace trim-
med with two matching frills.
Her matching head-dress was
held in place with three-tier
silk illusion veiling and she,
carried a cascade of white
miniature carnations, yellow
sweetheart roses, lily of the
valley and baby's breath.
The maid of honour was
Miss Brenda Makins of
Goderich, and the bridesmaids
were Misses Suzie Chambers,
sister of the groom, Pauline
girdrie of Londesboro, Mrs.
Lynn Peck and Mrs. Connie
Chomicki London, friends of
the bride. They were all
dressed in floor-length gowns of
green and white polyester, with
matching short bolero jacket
with long sleeves and white ruf-
fle trim. They wore white hats,
and carried nosegays of white
daisy mums, baby's breath and
lily of the valley,
The groomsman was Steve
Tyndall of Clinton, and the
ushers were Mr. Wesley Cham-
bers, brother of the groom, Mr.
Bill Hollenbeck, Mr. John
Hudie, and Mr. Tom
McMahon, friends of the
groom. -
Following the ceremony, a
wedding dinner and 'reception
was held at the White Car-
nation. Assisting the wedding
party receiving the guests was
the bride's mother, wearing a
floor-length' gown of polyester
with pink bodice and pink and
mauve floral skirt with sheer
sleeves and white accessories.
She wore a white gardenia and
stephanotis corsage. She was
assisted by the groom's mother,
who wore a floor-length gown
of blue and mauve floral fortrel
on white background and mat-
ching accessories and wore -a
corsage of mauve miniature
carnations and stephanotis.'
For a wedding trip to Ottawa
and points east, the bride don-
ned a blue pant suit with navy
and white accessories and a
corsage of pink sweetheart
roses. They will reside in Clin-
ton.
Prior to her marriage, the
bride was honoured with bridal
showers given by Mrs. Barbara
Mustard at the home of her
mother Mrs. Helen Lee; Mrs,
Kay Saundercock and Mrs.
Lynn Peck at the Londesboro
United Church; the Burns
U.C.W. and former neighbours
at the home of Mrs. Hazel
Reid; and Miss Phyllis O'Neill
and the nurses at Wingham
and District Hospital where she
is a member of the staff.

Bryon Hopkins of Coquitlam,
B.C, on Friday, May 31, 1974
at 5 p.m. in a ceremony perfor-
med by Rev. George Youmatoff
in Trinity Anglican Church,
Bayfield, decorated with yellow
and white daisies and yellow
roses. Mr. and Mrs. Merton E.
Merner of Bayfield are the
parents of the bride, and Mrs.
Sivert Norbruget of Mill Bay,
B.C. is the mother of the
groom.
The bride entered the Church
on the arm of her father to
strains of traditional wedding
music played by the organist,.
Mrs. Don Johnston.
For her wedding, the bride
chose an Empire line sheer
organza net over taffeta gown.
The bodice was trimmed with
lace and daisy eyelet with high
ruffled neckline. Her long
bodice was trimmed with lace

were lace trimmed and puffed
to the elbow. She wore a
cethederal style wedding veil
held by a single rose and seed

JOHN THOMAS McASH
John Thomas McAsh of
Huronview and formerly of
Varna died in Huronview on
June 13, 1974. He was 91.
Mr. McAsh was born in
Varna on October 20, 1882, a
son of the late Thomas J.
McAsh and Elizabeth A.
Thompson. In 1884, the family
moved to a farm near Marlette,
Michigan, returning to Varna
in 1896. He attended elemen-
tary school in Varna and
Chatham Business College in
1901.
In 1902, he and his brother-
in-law went into business in a
store at Shabbona, Michigan
and came back to Varna in
1909 and he worked with his
ribbon.
Bridesmaid, Miss Barbara
Graham of Bayfield; junior
bridesmaid, Dawn Merner,
sister of the bride; and flower-
girl Terri Koene were dressed
similarly to the matron of
honour.
• Groomsman was Bill Balano
of Burnaby, B.C. Kevin Merner
and Lorne Merner, brothers of
the bride acted as ushers and
Johnny Hancock of Burnaby,
B.C. was ringbearer.
For the reception which
followed the ceremony in the
Community Centre in Bayfield,
the mother of the bride
received guests wearing a soft
pink polyester street-length
dress with matching jacket and
white accesories and a pink
floral hair ornament, She was
assisted by the groomS mother,
who chose a colourful pastel
floral polyester voile shirt-
waiste style street-length dress
with beige accessories.
Following the reception, the
couple left for a wedding trip to
Montego Bay, Jamaica, and
upon their return, will reside at
2345 Huron Drive, Coquitlam,
B.C.
The bride's brother, Garfield
Merner, Burnaby, B.C. and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Eamon of Dartmouth, Nova
Scotia. were among the out-of-

father in the general store in
Varna which is now in the
third generation of the McAsh
family.
He married the former Myr-
tle Keys in Seaforth on July 18,
1916. She survives him.
Mr. McAsh was well-known
to residents in Varna, Stanley
and Goderich Townships, as he
was the Varna postmaster from
1915 until 1961. He ran the
General Store from 1915 until
1946.
He was ordained as an elder
on February 11, 1917 in the for-
mer Presbyterian Church under
the ministry of Rev. Daniel
Johnston and in 1967, he was
named an honorary member of
the Session in the United
Church. He retired to Huron-
view in February of this year.
Besides his wife, he is sur-
vived by two sons, William T.
McAsh of Varna, and Floyd
McAsh of Hamilton; four gran-
dchildren; and seven great-
grandchildren. He was
predeceased by one sister May
of Pontiac, Michigan in March,
1974,
Funeral services were held
from the Ball Funeral Home on
.June 15, 1974 with Rev. Mur-
dock Morrison officiating. In-
terment was in Baird's
Cemetery in Stanley Township.
Pallbearers were Fred
McClymont, Watson Webster,
Robert Taylor, of Clinton,
Wilfred Chuter, Marvin John-
ston and Addie Mustard, of
Varna.
Flowerbearers were grand-
sons, Gary McAsh of London,
Murray Morrison of Ilderton
and Douglas McAsh and Brian
McAsh of Varna.
A lovely evening wedding
was solemnized in Sunrise Bap-
tist Church, London, Ontario
on Friday, May 17 when Ruby
Dykstra and John Bylsma were
united in marriage by Rev. A.
Beukema of Clinton. .
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dykstra of
London, Ontario and the groom
is 'the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wobbe Bylsma, RR 1, Blyth.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a formal
gown of organza, empire
waistline, with lacey stand-up
collar. A long cathedral veil
with matching lace encircling
the veil was held in place by a
Juliet cap. She carried a
bouquet of daisies and blue car-
nations with trailing ivy.
The matron of honour, Marie
Zylstra, friend of the bride,
wore a' floral gown of red and
blue jersey on cream
background.
The bridesmaids, Misses
Cathy and Linda Dykstra,
sisters of the bride, chose iden-
tically styled gowns in a blue
and mauve floral design. Each
carried an arrangement of
daisies and mums to match
their gowns.
The best man was Pete Bos,
friend of the groom, and guests
were ushered by Lyle Adams,
In a May 24th ceremony at
Exeter Christian Reformed
Church, Frances Margaret Zan-
dbergen, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Gerriet Zandbergen, RR 1
Hensall, exchanged wedding
vows with Albert Hummel, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hum-
mel, RR 1 Clinton.
Rev. Jack Roeda officiated,
and Harry Klungel, of Hensall
sang the Lord's Prayer accom-
panied by Mr. L. Dehaan.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a satin
gown accented with an empire
waist and puffed sleeves. Her
long train was trimmed with
embroidered flowers and she
wore a juliet cap. She carried a
bouquet of yellow roses and
baby's breath.

mother who wore a floor-length
gown of navy and white Swiss
dot, accented by a' corsage of
yellow mums, and the groom's
mother who chose a two piece
floor-length pink gown with
floral jacket. Mr. Ralph de
Weerd, friend of the groom,
was Master of Ceremonies.
The bride chose a white knit
dress, trimmed with blue and a
corsage of yellow roses for
travelling to Niagara Falls.
The Young couple are now
residing at 1801 Park Avenue,
London, Ontario.
Guests were present from
London, Aylmer, St. Thomas,
Brampton, Acton, Georgetown,
Woodstock, Exeter, Goderich,
Clinton and Blyth.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honoured at a
shower given by Marie Zylstra
for friends and relatives.
The matron of honor was
Mrs. Corrine Hummel and
Frieda and Shirley Zandbergen
were bridesmaids. They wore
light green, flower print voile
gowns with white picture hats,
and carried bouquets of yellow
roses and baby's breath.
The best man was Herman
Hummel and John and Andrew
Hummel ushered the guests,
A wedding reception was
held in Dashwood Community
Hall. For a wedding trip to
British Columbia the bride
wore a navy blue pant-suit.
The couple will reside at RR
3 Clinton, The groom is em-
ployed at the T.B. Allen Feed '
Mill in Londesboro and the
bride is employed at Queen-
