Clinton Minor teams, playing
et the weekend, won three and
lost two games (1 by default),
The Pee Wee team defeated
Exeter despite giving up the
first goal. Steven Johns
equalized for Clinton and Jeff
Gibbings scored the game win-
ner.
The Clinton Cougars
(Mosquito), also playing
Exeter, over-ran the Centen-
nials, 5-1. Rick Myers with two,
Phillip Cornish, Roy Browri
and Richard Johns scored for
the Cougars.
Also in Mosquito action,
Clinton Stingers travelled to
St, Columban and went down
10-0.
In the only home game at the
weekend, Clinton Sharks
(Atom) met Seaforth Kickers
with Clinton coming out ahead
by a score of 6-1. The first goal
in the game came from a
penalty shot awarded to
Seaforth, but that was all the
"Kickers" could muster as the
"Sharks" came storming on to
score six goals.
Brad Forbes and Sean Van
Dongen scored three each for
the Sharks. Stars were Brad
Hymers, Tim Dobson, and Tim
Addison. Special mention goes
to Wild Bill (Colquhoun), Paul
Stephenson and Cowboy (Trace
Dallas).
Senior club
hosts cup
On Saturday June 29th, the
Clinton Soccer Team will at-
tempt to gain a semi-final berth
in the third Division Cup, when
they meet Grand Bend. Game
time - 6 p.m, at the Arena Park.
This promises to be an ex-
citing game as Grand Bend are
an unknown quantity playing
in the eastern section of the
league.
A good turnout is a: 'great`
moral booster to these boys so
come out and give them your
support.
teams were forced to pitch six
feet further than usual because
of a common error by our
,coaches, but we forgive them,
Due to rainy weather, the
game against Tavistock last
Wednesday had to be can.
celled. Since Moorefield has
dropped out of the league
please disregard the scheduled
games against them,
Last Saturday, the girls
travelled to New Hamburg to
compete in the Women's Sum-.
rrier Games, They played Sar-
nia and were trampled on by
the score of 16-4,. Sarnia went
on to play in the final and may
even have won.
The girls then played a
stacked Dublin team whom we
had beaten twice before. We
were beginning to wonder who
we were playing, Dublin or
Milverton. They had a Milver-
ton player catching, one on
second, one in centre field, and
one in left, In case you were
wondering, we also had two
Milverton players, Sandy
Fremlin and Pat Kay who also
play for the Clinton team. We
came out ahead after seven in-
nings, the score being 4.2, The
girls played excellent ball, and
are to be commended,
This left us to play Harriston
in the consolation final and the
girls lost 10.9 even though we
were leading for most of the
game.
The team would like to
thank Ruby and Paul, who
gave up a golf tournament to go
with us. The day turned out
well even if we did lose,
The girls played a rained out
game against Dublin Sunday
afternoon and soundly defeated
them 15-10, Some of the
younger players displayed their
talents with some fine fielding.
Next game for the girls is Thur-
sday night in Tavistock.
Vanastra Gun Club results
of Clinton with 15 each.
Bill Stewart of Goderich and
Glen Mogk of Bornholm tied at
24 hits each at the skeet shoot
held last Saturday. Allen Tur-
ner of Stratford and Mery
Batkin were tied for third spot
with 23 each, while Jim Hogg
of Seaforth and Harriston
Schock of Zurich were next
with 21 each.
Next came Manfred Dierolf
of Goderich with 20, Ashley
Gilbert of Goderich with 17
and Bob Schults of RR 2, Clin-
ton with 16.
