An appropriate time to talk
of outdoor barbecues (hopefully
if the weather ever improves)
and more especially of the large
political "meet your can-
didate" (but refrain from biting
him) type - your writer came
across an interesting item re a
barbecue given by John
Calloway Walton when he was
inaugurated as -governor of
Oklahoma' in 1923. More than
100,000 persons were served
beef, pork, mutton, buffalo,
bear, reindeer, antelope,
squirrel, opossum, coon, rabbit,
chicken, goose and duck all
cooked in a mile of trenches. In
addition, the people were ser-
ved enormous quantities of
bread, and coffee was made in
urns holding 10,000 gallons
each.
The Sacrament of infant
Baptism was held in .Iierisall
United Church Sunday mor-
ning. The choir sang an anthem
and Rev. Don Beck preached
on the sernton topic "Doubt
and Faith",
Children being baptised were
Mark Darryl, son of Mr. and.
Mrs, David Brock; Timothy
Daniel, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Ducharrne; :Kerrie-Sue,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Gary
'Kyle; and Cindy Lyn, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs, Steve Kyle,
