Clinton bank manager honored at dinner
About 90 persons were points in Ontario including
present last Saturday night Sudbury and Toronto,
when Mr, and Mrs. lien Flett Mr. Flett'a replaeement,Rari
of Clinton were honored at a
retirement dinner at the Bully
Gully in Varna.

ployees of the Bank of Mon,
OW in Clinton. ,
• Mr, Flett stepped down as
manager of the Clinton branch
of the bank last March after 45
years working for the Bank of
Montreal, la as the Clinton
branch manager.
Mrs. Phyllis Edwards of
Clinton. the only presentem-
ployee at the bank who Was
there in 1961 when Mr. Flea'
became the manager, presented
the gifts on behalf of the em-
ployees.
Mr. Flett and his wife
Eleanor were presented with a
terrarium, two lounge chairs
and a chaise lounge.
Present as well were the
Fleas' two daughters, Mrs.
Ron (Jean) Jewitt of .Clinton

Rebekah Lodge Meeting
The regular meeting of the
Amber Rebekah Lodge was
held Wednesday evening in the
Lodge rooms with N.G. Mrs.
Aldeen Volland presiding and
being assisted by V.G. Mrs.
Margaret Consitt. The meeting
opened in regular form being
the spring visit of D.D.P. Mrs,
Mary Gregg of District 23, who
was welcomed in the usual
The rabbits were getting
ready for a party. It was
was Hippity and Dippity's
birthday. "Can't I come'?"
begged Peeka Pika. "I'm
your cousin." "All right,"
said the rabbits. So Peeka
Pika came to the party early,
bringing a present of tasty
twigs from' his storehouse.
After the rabbits finished the
birthday carrot cake, it was
time for games. "Who has the
longest ears?" Peeka Pika
came in last. "Who has the
fluffiest tail?" But they
couldn't even see Peeka
Pike's tail. "Let's have a
hopping race!" someone
shouted. "GO!" cried the
father rabbit. Peeka Pika just
sat there, "I can't even hop,"
he thought: Then he heard
screams from across the
meadow. He raced over to see
what was the matter. Dippity
had fallen into a well. It was
too deep for her to climb out.
If someone didn't help her
soon, she would drown. can
save her!" Peeka shouted. He
raced off to his home in the
rock pile and gave a whistling
call. Hundreds of pikes
popped their heads out of
•
manner. A number of visitors
were present from Exeter and
Clinton.
A donation was made to the

bett. It was reported that the
District Church Service will. be
held in the Anglican Church in
Exeter on April 28. The local
I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodge
Church service will be held at
holes in the rocks, As soon as
Peeka told them what had
happened, all the pikas
disappeared into their
burrows. Each one got a pile
of grass and twigs. They all
scurried down to the well in
the meadow. Some of them
dropped their bundles into the

to float on. Other pikas
twisted their grasses into a
strong rope. The rabbits and
pikas pulled Dippity up out of
the well. Dippity was safe.
Peeka Pika was the hero.

Hilderly, has taken over the
Clinton managership.
Following the dinner and
Carmel Presbyterian Church in
Hensall on May 5. It was also
decided that a Dessert Euchre
will be held in Amber Lodge
rooms May 8 at 1:30. Everyone
is welcome.
The District report was given
and accepted. D.D.P. Mrs.
Gregg took as, her topic and
said a few words on "Odd-
fellowship". A delicious lunch
was served in the lower hall at
the conclusion of the ?fleeting.
St. Paul's Meeting
The regular April meeting of
St. Paul's A.C.W. was held
Thursday afternoon . at the
home of Mrs. R. Middleton.
The meeting opened with a
hymn ,and a prayer..
The-roll call was:InsWerecf
with° a Bible prayer verse, An
invitation from the Hensall
UCW to attend their general
meeting on May 6 was accep-
ted. A bale will be packed at
the next meeting in the Church
basement. Members are to
bring articles for this bale.
The Litany and prayers were
read from The Living Message
and also a contest "Who was
she"? was conducted. An organ
instrumental by Mrs. Mid-
dleton was enjoyed by all. Mrs.
Anderson closed the meeting
with prayer.
Personals
The infant daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Paul McKellar of
Seaforth was baptized in St.
Paul's Anglican Church Sun-
day morning by the Rev. G.A.
Anderson, D.F.C, D.I.P.T.H.
The Forrest family enter-
tained by playing "In the Gar-
den", using organ, violin and
bass guitar, and also played for
the singing of an Easter hymn.
Mr. Carl Payne has returned
from Oceanside, California af-
presentatIon, the gathering
danced to the music of the Hat-
bourlites.

A very good crowd attended
the estate house auction sale'
for Mrs. Jane Berton McMdt-
trie on Saturday. The house
was sold to Mrs. Joyce Dobson.
Rev. Don Beck conducted the
service of Worship in Hensall
United Church on Sunday mor-
ning and used as his sermon
topic "In the End". The choir
sang the anthem "Now let the
Heavens be Joyful", under the z.
direction of the organist and
choir, director Mrs Turklriin. -
Clinton Ill 4-H
The fifth 'and sixth meeting
of the Clinton III 4-H Club was
held on Monday April 15 at the
home of Mrs. Robert Saunder-
cock. The meeting was opened
with the 4-H pledge and the
roll call was answer by nine
members. •
For .meeting five, the
discussion was "A Beautiful
Complexion". For meeting six,
the discussion was, "Hair
Care". The roll call for
meeting five was one aid which
will improve storage in my
bedroom. The roll call for
meeting six was one health
habit I will follow that will
help make a lovely complexion.
We filled in the handout
sheets for both meetings. The
next meeting was held on April
22 at the home of Mrs. R.
Saundercock. by Kathy Jewitt
and Wendy Welch.
