Monday evening, more than
50 relatives and friends
gathered in Trinity Church.
Parish Hall for a delicious and
bountiful smorgasbord dinner
to honour Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Arkell for their many 'years of
faithful service to Trinity
Church. The Arkell s recently
left the Village and have taken
up residence in Goderich,
Harry Baker, Rector's ware
den, paid tribute to the many
services performed by Fred, his
14 years on the board of
management and his tenure as
both people's and Rector's war-
den, and to Daisy for the .work
done by her on the Chancel
Guild.
Fred Hulls, People's warden,
presented the couple with a
beautiful mantle clock, a gift of
the congregation. The Rector,
Rev, George Youmatoff, also
paid tribute to Mr. and Mrs.
Arkell and wished them many
happy retirement years in
Goderich.
Mr. Arkell fittingly replied
and said he was sure he didn't
deserve all the credit bestowed
upon him, and was surprised
and thrilled with the gracious
gesture of the congregation.
Mrs. Don (Rosemarie) Sager
of Goderich, a daughter of Fred
and Daisy, spoke for the family
and recited an old cliche,
"Home is Where the Heart is",
and she said even though her
parents were now living in
Goderich, their heart would
always be in • Bayfield.
Following a banquet a social
hour of euchre and bridge was
enjoyed.

Figure Skating Club
Even though the Club made
a late start this season, they are
going to have a "Pop Concert
on Ice" on Sat, March 9, at 8
p.m.
They have been skating
about two months and all the
members are looking forward
to having a carnival. They are
working hard and trying to get
routines ready so their parents,
relatives and friends can see
what can be accomplished in a
few short weeks.
Since they are a small club,
funds are very limited, so they
are having a draw for two
vouchers again this year from
Brandon's Hardware and the
Woollen Shoppe so they will
have enough to carry them
through for ice time. Please
support your skaters when they
ask you to take a chance.
